I believe the rules have changed so he won't have to go through waivers (just like Klingberg) Sign and play. The Ruotsalainen rule no longer applies.

That’s what I thought too, they were called unconditional waivers, Stauffer’s producer asked the same question on air and Stauffer said no. The rules are so convoluted now, who knows anymore…lol

Pretty sure if Saad signs here it will come with some guarantee of a chance to play with McDavid or Draisaitl, which wouldn't be that hard to accommodate as basically no one has worked out great on Leon's wing this year (production wise).

The guy just got waived from a mediocre team and then contract terminated. I don't think he'll be making a lot of demands who he plays with no matter where he lands.
