Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

I agree with you, but goaltending is such a black box that you might just be inclined to stick with what's working. Pickard has been winning you games this year and to his credit, showed up at crunch time in the playoffs.

It's tough because he's supposedly great in the room, fits in well with the players, has worked hard, and is putting up results. To go against that and add a guy who may not necessarily fit the system or perform at a similar level is a risk. Only a legitimate upgrade could be considered worth it, and YMMV as to who that is.

from Stauff today

That’s more Arvidsson to me. It seems that every time he has the puck he just fires it on net from anywhere. Skinner never has the puck anyways.

Brandon Saad & Kasperi Kapanen >>> Holloway & Broberg

Who knew.

;)
We just collect the Blues garbage now to get revenge for the offer sheets.

Parayko is the Blues' best defensman and their fans love him.
That’s not saying much. He’s been bad for awhile now

Lol now the difference of 914 to sub 910 isn't a big thing and the gaa isn't Important. I'm not shitting on dostal but more than a few people in here were arguing against Gibson cause of his numbers while saying dostal was doing it under the same conditions so Gibson got no leeway for being a bottom team 6 years in a row.

Look at goals save above expected

Not this year. He's a legitimate 2/3/4 and can play a solid 21-22 minutes a night.
Dude, he’s getting caved. Nurse’s number in the playoffs are better than Parayko’s this year.

43% HDGF
46% HDCF
45% xGF

Yeah- he is terrible. When he is on the ice- the ice is tilted in the opposition’s favour. We have posters complaining about Bouchard’s 60%HDCF- what do you think 46% will look like.

Saad is a know commodity for Bowman and it looked like he played a lot with Kapanen last season. I think that he'd be at least a Kapanen level add which wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Guys like Arvidsson and Skinner need to be pushed.

I mean, is that how we're evaluating a player now? Sorting a few advanced stats out of context and saying a defenseman who leads his team in ice time by a full 2 minutes "sucks." That's how advanced stats get a bad rap. Watch him play.

If he comes cheap, Saad could be a really nice fit. I mean, this was 3 weeks ago.

Still a good skater, decent size, can play in front of the net, and possesses a quality wrister that can snipe from the slot. Plus he can PK and is a decent defensive forward. He can be a bit meat and potatos-y offensively (RE: zero creativity), but that works well with this team.

McDavid and Drai (along with Nuge and Rico) love their straight-ahead players who can work the boards, crash the net and be ready to shoot when the puck finds them.

Bang on.

Doug Armstrong was on Millard and Shannon’s podcast today and stated that almost every team seems to call about Parayko and they decline everytime. The context was around the Blues re-tooling and whether he’d be available. A hard no from him.

But I guess the poster you are discussing this with (I can’t see because I have them on ignore) knows something most other non-arm chair (real) NHL GMs can’t see.

:)

Really that’s all some here do, spout advanced metrics without taking into account any intangibles, momentum or opponents that are actually on the ice.

Saad-McDavid-Hyman would be an interesting unit to try just because it frees Zach up to be more of a volume shooter. Teams have scouted our current top line to death and know if they can physically take RNH out of the game that Hyman has to be both board worker and net front presence... which of course isn't physically possible unless we figure out how to clone him.

Saad though can take over the role of puck retrieval specialist and will probably win a lot more of those battles down low. Then you have Hyman open to either shoot or be a target the D has to respect.

Also bonus: McDavid, Drai, RNH, Henrique as our C depth. That's easily the best in the NHL, no question.
