My hopes are pretty high considering he was the #1D on a team that went deep in the playoffs (bubble playoffs mind you, but still). I am expecting him to be somewhere between that and not good enough for the NHL. My guess is that he will remind us of Stecher, but better. He's not that old for a defenseman.It’s not like Klingberg was some sort of defensive stalwart before the injury so I’m not sure why some people have their hopes that high.
Also I don't think Nurse needs a great defensive partner. Time has shown that his pairing will do well if the RD on it is mobile and skilled (thats where the aftermath of the surgery is a big factor). Being a complementary fit is a great reason to be optimistic about them doing well.
Also, he's joining a team with a great defensive system with total buy in from every player. If Klingberg has bad habits he will obsess on eliminating him.
The only worry I have about him is his physical condition
