Hockey has lost a bunch of cultural significance in the last 25 years. Was watching the OG Law and Order episodes starting in '90, was surprised at how many hockey references there were.

Culture has shifted to Basketball. Football will always be king in America, but the NBA has established itself as the far and away number two. Was reading that a player in the NBA will be eligible for a 80M AAV contract in ~4 years. At that point one player in the NBA will make the salary floor of a whole NHL roster of 22/23 players.

If I was in charge of Oilers social media, I would just post a compilation video of infractions against McDavid that weren't called. Like a 5 minute video.

I love Janmark but our 3rd line LW having 1 goal is unacceptable, and Knob doesn't trust Skinner there. Whatever the makeup is, that 3rd line needs some work. I'd happily give up a 1st for Jake Evans, I think he's a Lekhonen type player and is impactful, I'm not talking about from just a goal scoring perspective as I am aware he is shooting well above his career %. He's just a solid, big, fast bottom 6 guy.

No, idiot. If they call the penalty and the Oilers shoot the puck in the net it wouldn't be whistled because the Nucks don't have the puck. Even besides the fact its comically inaccurate, the fact that consensus among referees "in the community" is that its just ok to not call specific penalties then because one team or another might be mad is all you need to know.

At minimum we need to appeal it.

Even if we don't win it and know we won't, just keep it in the spotlight for a few more days. Make Gary's life hard. That demon isn't going to do anything about the DoPS issue until it inconveniences him.

I really want O'Connor, I think he's ready to take off and would fit the team nicely, basically an upgrade on Janmark.

Lizotte has absolutely goofy fancy stats for Pittsburgh this year. Like out of this universe numbers. It makes no sense and is probably just a fluke, but if he can replicate that impact in 4C minutes here we're a much better team for it.

Lizotte + Pettersson fills two major holes for us.
