Speaking to a few voices in the officiating community Monday, when asked why veteran officials Wes McCauley and Chris Lee didn’t even raise an arm while Garland was wrestling with McDavid, more than one person said this (and we paraphrase):

So the "voices in the officiating community" appear to be dumber than anticipated. Wish I could say I was surprised.

No, idiot. If they call the penalty and the Oilers shoot the puck in the net it wouldn't be whistled because the Nucks don't have the puck. Insane that someone who is purportedly in the "community" would utter something that is so on the surface ridiculous. So clinically unable to even faintly criticize these morons that they have to basically pretend they don't know the basics of when a delayed call is whistled.

I can't believe I just read that.

Or call the penalty and McDavid doesn't get fed up and have to crosscheck Garland in the head and Bouchard doesn't get a crosscheck to the face from Myers after simply approaching him.

I bet one of the 'voices' is that jackass Tim 'It wasn't much but I wanted to f***ing get a penalty on Nashville early' Peel.

Lots of media personalities calling out the NHL for the treatment stars are forced to go through.

I'm guessing they wont be happy, and McDavid will get 8 games.

The league don't care. Bettman's too busy trying to put an expansion team in Atlanta AGAIN anyways.

The NFL is the most successful league in North America. Look what they’ve done the past few seasons. They put in rules to encourage more offense, and they protect their quarterbacks. Some would say they have gone a bit too far protecting their most important position, but they want those players playing and driving the show.
And don’t tell me refs don’t want to decide the game, so they don’t call close calls. By not calling actual penalties, they are potentially deciding games, by not putting a team shorthanded.

But but but think about Wes McCauley's feelings when all he does is get loud making calls just so his stupid ass can be in the spotlight.

Most of the NHL offices for discipline and reffing seem to fill up with plugs. Got a brain damaged face puncher deciding on suspensions. It's a joke. Colin Campbell has been a joke his entire run.

Same jackass who complained about officials calls in emails and complained about them if they made calls on his son. The same son who's employed by (who would've thought) Florida Panthers.

Reinhart went knee on knee on Lundestrom the other day, but that gets nothing from the league!

If he gets more than 2 this league is just a farce. I wish he made the crosscheck worth it and hit him more square, if he was going to lose his cool.

He shouldn't have done it, but what a f****in league where Turtleneck garland is like top 10 in penalties drawn while McDavid and guys like Mackinnon are tiers below

Just a shit league product now. We don't care about plugs like Garland you idiots. Call it by the book.

The NHL needs to move on from dinosaurs like Bettman and get younger people with modern ideas to lead. This isn’t the 80’s and 90’s where no one has internet and can’t watch star players in smaller markets. Casual sports fans care more about star players over what city they play for. Nowadays a fan in Berlin has the same access to watch a team in Winnipeg or LA.
