A part of me is sad he didn't get claimed so he could continue his career in the NHL, but I'm overwhelmingly ecstatic that he is still an Oiler.

He'll be back up for the playoffs, might even get into some games. I hope we can win one for him, and he can retire as an Oiler and move into a coaching or player development role.

Derek Ryan is the easiest guy in the world to root for.

I am afraid for EK65 being on the block because that sounds exactly like the kind of splash Bowman would think is an "Ekholm like" defender, and ironically we'd end up worse off defensively.

Happy for sure he stuck in the org. He'll be back up come playoff time and I imagine joins the coaching staff next year. He's going to be a good person to have around our young players in the years to come.

Take us back a few years and that dcore is amazing.

If nothing else, having a connection to the current team in Bakersfield, and eventually a leader on the Black Aces is important.

Derek Ryan is still a solid low-minutes 4th line RHC option. Glad he didn’t get claimed. He has utility. Hopefully management/coaching staff emphasized that to him on the way down. He played mostly 4RW in the past and if he’s with a LHC its a nice bonus option to have both handedness on the 4L, depending on the circumstances.

I love Janmark but our 3rd line LW having 1 goal is unacceptable, and Knob doesn't trust Skinner there. Whatever the makeup is, that 3rd line needs some work. I'd happily give up a 1st for Jake Evans, I think he's a Lekhonen type player and is impactful, I'm not talking about from just a goal scoring perspective as I am aware he is shooting well above his career %. He's just a solid, big, fast bottom 6 guy.

Part of the deal is Connor has to issue an apology to Garland and the Cuck fans, and to all hockey fans in general for his heinous act. Garland had his own call from Gary, praising him for his restraint and his efforts to improve the game of hockey so all players are at the same level, regardless of skill.

This would be a lot more funny if it was not at least 85% true!!!!

Actually a decent article.

That right there is why they were insistent on re-signing Perry. He shreds the league and says what everyone else is thinking, leaving our big guys free from any backlash in doing so. He has also been in the league forever, and a star to boot, so it carries some weight compared to others.

Lolol people still not talking about arec true need... actually fking #1 goalie.

Comical we are litterally top end of the league on defense statistically yet bottom tier on goaltending and people still insist on D being the problem
The regular season and a seven game playoff series are two very different scenarios. Team depth falls under greater scrutiny when the team you're playing against gets to lean on the weaker parts of your available roster.

It's not a coincidence that you're seeing fewer competitive rosters being willing to commit a ton of salary or assets toward the goaltending position, unless they've internally developed their options.

Depth is what wins you championships.
