Bouchard was good, but "fantastic" is getting carried away a bit.
You hate Bouchard so there is that. You also said Oilers wouldn’t get anywhere with Bouchard- and they got to the finals. I mean 82% xGF is pretty fantastic

You can't handle the sad truth!!!
Provorov is likely the best Dman out there that can play the right side.. won't come in cheap and there are no guarantees that he would be better than Ceci playing RD.

Also, Nemec for Savoie might work for both sides.
Seriously? Ceci is the worst defensemen analytically this year. Before you say he is on a bad team, is was at or near the bottom last year too.

He for sure is a deterrent, as is Kane, because even for all the things you say, there’s always the percentage chance that wires cross and “it” happens.

Yes, the league has negated the likelihood of this happening with regularity, and the multi game suspensions would ensue, but it’s still an element that can happen, and most unexpectedly, and that makes these players a deterrent. When the player can take a regular shift (Wilson, Kane versus a Reeves) it’s even more powerful.
Deterrents haven’t worked in the NHL in a long time. If they did- you wouldn’t see the Hartman’s and Tkachuk’s of the world. The instigator rule took out deterrents and the game is different now.

There was a lot more than 1 unlucky play against MacKinnon. Bouchard looked lost many a times defensively against Avs and got caught standing around covering no one. He like most others was good enough but not 'faboulous'. Ekholm didn't look great either but he may be fighting through an injury.
Also, still not doing much on PPs.
Ekholm gets 0 pp time but still has 3 goals

Best possible RHD who is available at the moment and possibly at deadline is likely Cody Ceci
Bouchard looked lost with an xGF% of 82? That’s a hot take

No, it's just a lie, Ceci is barely a depth add and he's not an option for this team in any way.

I would love Savoie for Nemec, I would even add, he's that good of a prospect

The amount you get upset anytime someone mentions Bouchard having a great game is hilarious.

Yeah, the D man who had a 24-7 SCF rate, and a 12-2 HDCF rate was fabulous.

+2, GWG, 83.4% xGF

Ceci isnt even an upgrade on Emberson
The plan would be to get Ceci at double retention and only play him in Game 7’s.

I'm a little worried Klingberg plays "good enough" and we don't go out and upgrade. That is also me being negative and anxious about the situation.

I think we need an Ekholm type trade this year.

Is that you Tyler Yaremchuck?

I don't get this line of thinking. If Klingberg comes in and plays well you would be upset? Like when did it make sense to cheer for failure?

Issue is in a small sample size anyone can look good.

If he comes back and looks passable beside Nurse, would you be okay with the Oilers standing pat on defense?

RR’s destiny is to be an Oiler one day.

Can someone make me feel better about Ristolainen?

I still remember when some scouts had him in the top 10 while other guys had him in the 3rd round. He must be such a polarizing player because he has the tools but couldn't think the game at a high enough level.

The only things I can think of are that NHL edge has him as 81% for skating speed, he doesn't take a lot of penalties and his 77 hits would be 2nd on the Oilers.
