Not sure if Philp solves the 4C problem.

But we know Ryan doesnt.
Precisely. Let’s find out if we can solve the need without it costing us assets or wasting higher amounts of cap space.

Just for the lulz

"Teams linked to players are based off various media reports and internal sources."
Edmonton: Gibson, Pettersson, Dumoulin, Ristolainen, and Savard.

Woof let’s hope not.

Same. I'd pull for Vejmelka as the backup from Utah if there's a chance.

If your going to ride a hot hand goalie, might as well go for the hotter one in Vejmelka. Possibility for reasonable extension too, although I wouldn't be surprised if Utah Bjugstad's us.

He would be awesome, but we know the oilers like their nice guys and good soldiers over players that will improve your team.

Oilersnation podcast (I forget the guys name) put Utah out as a good trade option. They are going to have a glut of dmen when everyone comes back from injury and suggested someone may shake loose…even kesselring…

Any chance the Canucks trade us Sherwood? this is the exact player we need and only a 1.5 million aav.
Lol no he’s like a folk hero over there this year.

I wanted Sherwood like 2 years ago, that was the time to strike. Who knew Trotz would be so incompetent to let him walk though, apparently it was over 500K. Another example of Trotz abhorrent management.

I would love him. They won't IMO>

Guy has tones it down, but he hits non stop and puts up production. Great signing. He plays the game like it is his last

Apparently the Canucks players told their management that Sherwood was the most annoying and hardest player to play against.

I'd be curious to look up when the Hip issue started affecting his game. And what he was just prior to that. But I agree there's an interesting option here if he can find his game post-surgery. The time line to find out is dwindling though, so it might not be realistic.
True. He would need to be able to go like right now, so that there’s time to see how he is and if he’s a fit. We are already rocking the 11-7 again right now. So we could continue that for a short while to get him in there on his trial run.

Jeff Skinner, St Louis 2nd and st Louis 3rd.
Plus Savoie
Oh F no. That much for the rat Marchand?

That's horrific on so many levels for a guy who said he didn't even want to step in Edmonton for an All Star Game. Why would we trade for a guy who doesn't want to be here, number 1.

Number 2, Why would we pay that much for a Rental, the Bs would be lucky to get anything close to that with his 15 team NTC.

Not to mention, he's nowhere near the same player he used to be.

Vejmelka would be a nice target but I can’t see Utah dealing him unless they completely fall apart and are all but mathematically eliminated. If they’re a bubble team, even if they’re a longer shot I can’t see them dealing their #1 when they’re trying to turn that corner into being a competitive team. Not like they have another option in the wings, Ingram has been terrible and Stauber has 4 games to his name.

Besides if you guys hate Skinners inconsistency, Vejmelka will give you an aneurysm. The guy swings wildly between lights out and terrible.

Sometimes I feel like we will end up with Risto

Yes please!

that is the guy I keep coming back to.

He is 29, he is signed for 5.1 for 2 years after this one and after watching him play a few games recently on TV, I have warmed up to the idea of getting him. Obviously Kulak is heading to the flyers, 2026 first (flyers already have our 2025). Curious to know what the ask would be for RR would be?

Kulak is better than RR. If he’s the target I’m guessing the Flyers retain like 10-20% with picks/prospects going the other way.

yuck.

One guy hasn't played in 18 months and one hasn't played for 14 months.

If you think they'll jump right in to a stretch drive and playoff run, you'll be disappointed.

These guys need a full training camp and half a season to get up to speed.

Of all fanbases, we should know this since this literally just happened with Connor Brown.

I couldn't disagree with this type of thinking more. Their is literally no downside to trying. If he doesn't work out you can just bury him or waive him. Why wouldn't you give him a chance? Like what if he does come back ala Patrick Kane and look like a top 4 guy?

Somehow we've gotten to a point where it's easy to dump on guys and call things stupid, to make ourselves look smart. Then when they do work out, everyone's calling them stupid for passing on a guy for free.

I don't know. I just dont like it.

Yeh I considered the PP aspect of it as well. We can't exactly offer up Bouch's spot. And PP time turning into points is likely Klingberg's best chance at a deal. Although I wonder how many contenders need a PPQB at this time, that spot on alot of teams may already be accounted for. Maybe Klingberg's best chance at a continued career is showing he can be effective at 5v5... we can offer that oppurtunity in either a 2nd or 3rd pairing role, whatever appropriate for his level of play.

That might not be a bad thing for the Bouchard negotiations. They want tonplay hardball, you give Klingberg some PP time and bring that number down for Bouchard.

.. worked the first time Barrie lol.

On the PP thing. The Leafs run a 5 man forward unit for PP1 but it's been struggling, still I don't think he'd want to rehash his failure in Toronto. 3rd runner up Ottawa, an Ottawa fan told me PPQB spot is for Sanderson and Chabot, so not much option for him there either. PP oppurtunities being equal it does seem like the Oilers would be the logical front runner for his services.

Yup, like almost every goalie outside of a few and even those guys have bad stretches. Recency bias, everyone loves the hot hand. Goalies are voodoo
