Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | Where's The Beef?

Yes, if the Oilers have access to that accrued space. As discussed earlier in the thread, Puckpedia is claiming the Oilers can’t use that accrued space if Kane is still on LTIR at the trade deadline. Could only use whatever’s remaining of Kane’s $5.1m in LTIR relief.

Should be added it’s not realistic for the Oilers to accumulate that much space by the trade deadline. They can’t run a 20 man roster for the next 6-8 weeks, there will be short term injuries and road trips.
Thanks. Yeh that's how I was thinking. Earlier discussions seemed to imply the Player's cap hit would be pro-rated along with accrued TDL deadline space (assuming we can even use it, which i fully understand is not looking likely).

Every time I watch the Blues it seems like Broberg is getting caved but seems to have a lot of luck going his way. We would have had to wait until August to trade both but there would be a market for both of them that would have been a greater return then what we got. Broberg is currently playing around his contract and Holloway is easily exceeding his right now but let’s see how they do as teams tighten up and more is at stake later in the season.
He has 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 16 games, without the hot start he’s exactly what most people seen him as. A bottom pairing Dman with little offensive production.

The tricky thing with salaries and the cap is it's actually calculated daily, but pretty much everywhere discusses it as an annual thing.

You accrue cap when you're under the daily salary cap and can go over the daily cap using that accrued space.

That's why I could see PuckPedia being correct just because it isn't a couple of lump sums. You don't just spend all the accrued space at once and then hop onto LTIR. You'd have to whittle away at the accrued space and it sounds like that isn't possible while on LTIR.

Not sure it's been mentioned but allen Walsh stated the cap should raise to 97 million next season . Significant jump but should be expected with how stagnant the cap was for years... .

They should have just matched the offer sheets then trade both players this August for a haul. I have a bigger feeling they didn't match out of spite instead of over cap space, especially for Holloway.
Yeah Broberg was unmatchable. You also can’t blame him. For all he knew that was his one chance at the golden ticket. My guess is they didn’t want Holloway back in the room. He played a game of chicken with his spot on a contender and they didn’t blink. So f*** him.

Once they got Fowler is minutes have dropped. He used to play between 2nd to 4th minutes among Dmen, now he’s playing 3rd to 5th minutes among Dmen. That is more in line with the minutes he would have been playing here.
