Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | Where's The Beef?

My priorities:

1. Top 4, RHD
2. 1B goalie
3. Bottom 6 winger, with speed, size and physicality
4. Bottom 6 RHC

I like this, except I’d like to keep Ryan as NHL depth.
You'd need a 1A goalie before you settle for a 1B.

At best and it's even a stretch the way Skinner has been the last few seasons he has proven he could be a 1B at best. To many struggles and inconsistency for a 1A. Again he has the potential but so did Campbell. And I think they have bothered the same mental issues which prevents them from taking the next step

The goal posts are moving now... can you decide which of "there was nothing Bowman could do!!!" and "he WILL do something, pinky swear!" that you're going to argue moving forward here?

Pickard hasn't been #1 in anything. I understand not jettisoning Skinner for Blackwood sight unseen, but we could have easily upgraded on Pickard and been a better club for it.

Kovacevic cost as much as Podz did, that was an easy one a true contender (Jersey) is benefitting from. Fowler has helped revitalize the Blues, they look like a new team. Carrier had plenty of resume from his time in Nashville so his uptick in play shouldn't be a surprise.

Bowman flat out failed to do anything when he had numerous low-cost opportunities to do so. That's on him.
Iv never said theres nothing could do, i said dont whine and bitch that he didnt do what you wanted to him to do when you wanted him to do it and say he failed when the f***ing deadline hasnt passed yet.

Sure Accrue all the cap space we want. But, what if no player becomes available to use that space for? What if we dont have enough value to acquire a player that can fit into that accrued cap space?
I wonder if people we less sold on Fabbro (or the Preds just didn't talk to anyone about him) or if (for the Oilers) the Kane situation seemed "different" then than it does now?

The overreactions are exhausting.

It's exhausting watching a team with the two best players in the world lose out on championships year after year because our idiot owner and his equally stupid management hires don't have two synapses to rub together. It's also exhausting watching the same fans support them in doing their best Three Stooges impersonation over and over.

You know what's not exhausting? Winning.

Then you see headlines like this which just throws a salt block on the wound:

Elliotte Friedman says teams feel regret over Canadiens' trade for Alexandre Carrier

Meanwhile we have a GM whose best trait is warming a chair. Not going to win shit with Josh Brown in our starting six.
Isn't Colorado like 8-1 since acquiring Blackwood for basically free as well. All the goalie guys like Kevin Woodley loved Blackwood's game and said he would be a great buy low candidate and would shine on a good team. Add that to giving away Holloway and Broberg, this team keeps shooting itself in the foot with its pro scouting.

There will be plenty of "What-if" scenario's for certain. But in the scenario outlined above, at the very minimum, we could still use our accrued & LTIR cap space to be a 3rd party broker at the deadline to re-coup some assets from teams that are in a cap bind. May not be ideal, but this quest for accrued cap space won't be in vein.

What if no player becomes available? Since when did a deadline have no players? lol

We would have 4M in accrued cap space by deadline. That's like a 8M player if there's retention and not to mention we most likely going to put Kane on LTIR until playoffs. That's another 5M.

We have the assets to make trades lol

unfortunately, it's delaying his abdominal re-hab as well, so who knows if he even plays this year at all

🤷‍♂️

I think there's a pretty good chance Evander Kane has already played his last game as an Oiler, but if I had to choose between the two I'd rather have the cap space at the deadline.

Exactly, cap space is just as important as draft picks at the TDL. In fact, they are more or less equivalent in many respects.

Rasmus Andersson and Marcus Petterson. Fabbro would have been nice but the former are just straight up better right now

Andersson ain't happening and I like Fabbro's age, acquisition cost and salary over Pettersson.

I'm a defender of management generally and am willing to be patient to see what the plan is but not getting Fabbro at such a cheap cost was a miss IMO.

A lot, but Marchant is a pending UFA, so that's VERY interesting. He, Leon and Podkolzin would be a nightmare for teams, imo.

Would be disgusting and true cup contender for sure.

Kapanen - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Marchand
Kane - Nuge - Arvidsson
Janmark - Rico - Brown
Perry, Ryan

Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - ???? / Kulak
Kulak / ???? - Emberson
Stecher

????
Skinner / Pickard

Trade would have to be like - Skinner + 1st + 2nd + decent prospect for Marchand? More or less? Marchand easy to fit in, he's 6.125 AAV, so at 50% he directly replaces Skinner's cap.

How many real assets we have to trade?

🤷‍♂️

Eh, I think Bowman is pretty adept at playing this game. I think this knee surgery being done now is likely cold calculated.

How much would it cost to acquire Pastrnak or Marchand? 🤔

marchand was -4 the other day. Looked like it too. Lets be frank here. How many people wouldn't want anything to do with Marchand? My hands up. Can't stand him.

The Bruins roster plan this season is ridiculous and I called it out months ago. How do they keep losing players and expect to still be competitive. Their big signings offseason were Lindholm and Zadorov? Thats lol stuff. The kind of player additions you'd make if the plan was tanking.

Bruins have two legit production players. Thats it, thats all. You can't base any club solely around that. This was always going to be a popgun offense. Marchand folding on his team mate confirms what kind of clown he is.
