I’ve had my doubts about money puck. I’m actually surprised the xGF on Skinner was so high. Moneypuck puts too much emphasis on rebounds in tight, Jam plays I think are given too much weighting. And I don’t think Stu faced much of those last night.Yeah i see that moneypuck has Skinner as the better goalie based on goals saved above expected.
Natural stat trick has Skinner with a 2.10 expected goals against in all situations with 2 actual goals for a variance of 0.1. He also had a 0.6667 HDSV% based on the 3 high danger shots (saved 2 of 3).
Dostal had a 3.31 expected goals against with 3 actual goals in all situations, so a variance of 0.31. Dostal stopped 5/6 high danger shots for 0.83 HDSV%.
So i guess it depends on which site you use. Personally I take the goalie with the better high danger save percentage that faced more scoring chances.
Waivers. Same reason why it's difficult to see where Rodrigue is at until later in the year. This guy has had a lot of chances. Why not give Kemp a chance instead
He's 25 years old. I'm pretty sure he's ready to have a shot at the NHLProbably because they prefer Kemp playing games as a dman that's still developing

Better numbers than Skinner tho lmaoQuick looks like ass. Pass.
is there like a button for this stupid auto response?I guess you know more than the Oilers front office then?
There’s no reason to be rudeI guess you know more than the Oilers front office then?
you're right, sorry. There’s no reason to be rude
Not him again. Why did we recall him though lol
Trading for another 3C after we traded for one last year AND extended him seems like such a mismanagement of assets and cap.Team has several holes coming into the trade deadline .
In no particular order:
1) Another goalie who can challenge Skinner
2) Another Top 6 winger or a 3C who can push Henrique to wing
3) Another bonafide dman
4) A 4C
I expected the dman and goaltender. But its disappointing our forwards are as poor as they are.
I’d really like to see our management group to be more aggressive than they are.
I hope we see some trades to fill holes.
I also wish they would call up guys like Philp, Savoie to light a fire under some of the prospects. I wouldn’t mind Rodrigues getting a couple games too so we at least know what we got.

Not to mention converting Rico into a top 6 wing when we just blew our load on top 6 wings in the offseason. I think they’ll likely roll with Rico in the 3C slot, come hell or high water.
We are definitely not hitting the full potential of this team. A team driven by McDrai shouldn’t be sitting at around 10th for GF in this League. I agree with you in that we are left wanting in that area.Oh I don’t disagree. But I think the forwards are as much of a problem as the defense and goaltending which seems crazy after July 1. But JJ plan or lack of plan didn’t work out.
This needs care. Contracts play a role as well though. If that young player is expensive he better be a significant contributor. Savoie could be a cheap asset over the next two years were cap space could really matter.I don't believe that is the correct attitude to hold if you're the Oilers.
If any teams come calling on Savoie, let them know he's most definitely available. But it's gonna cost!
If the offers are sub-par, then and only then do you tell them to take a flying f***.
If the Oilers can get a young-ish established player today, that fills a definite hole, they'd be dumb not to at least consider it.

But I’ll also say that traditionally it takes times for new players on new teams to find their strides. I think for some unknown “something in the water” reason, this is magnified in Edmonton. So I don’t quite think the story is over on this front, we still got time until the TDL to see if these top 6 wingers pan out. I’m almost for certain Arviddson will hit in a big way for us. Hoping maybe Podz, Kap, or JSkinner can find a new level too. We shall see.
Funny enough on the JSkinner front. Him and Perry have looked great together in their time together on the 4th line. Last week I would say Perry had his best game in Oilers silks playing next to JSkinner. And last night they combine to create a huge goal.I do think it could turn around for Arviddson and Henrique. But I don’t really see it turning around for Skinner. Too many things going against him and I don’t see KK giving him much more opportunities going forward.
I do agree though that there seems to be something about that prevents players from breaking out.
And they've had him on the NHL network before with the "insider" tag. I'll give him credit, he's quite a good con man to have so many buy into his BS.Pagnotta has never called a thing in his life yet that website is pretty popular.
Lol I remember there was ONE time he called something. And the NHL network were treating him like just won his first Oscar, and he looked so appreciative and relieved to have got it right, like it was a career defining moment. And they've had him on the NHL network before with the "insider" tag. Not until McDavid has been extended. Is where I stand. The 9.25M freed up is ever so enticing though. But I can’t see this organization moving on from the core of McD, Drai, Nurse all best buddies who started this whole thing together until they’ve won it.Genuine question here. Nurse is playing some of the best hockey of his career lately. He looks like a top pairing D. Maybe still not worth 9.25, but let’s say he is worth 8.
Do any Oilers fans entertain moving him now? So many have called for his head in the past, but in every trade proposal, we’d have to give up something of value to move him. In fact many believe he was not moveable.
Maybe he is now? Maybe we could even get value for him. So do fans still feel the same way?
This is the sell higher scenario instead of the Oilers fans calling for blood sell low scenario. But all has been quiet on the ‘trade Nurse’ front.
Opinions?
Disclaimer - I’m not advocating for trading him, nor am I saying we should 100% keep him. Just want to get the current vibe on all things Nurse.
