He didn’t look great against us either. Schwartz is the scout anyway so we should always do the opposite of what he says.
Do I really need to bring up all the games our current goaltending didn’t look good?

Quick has had a better season than them both. I’m not saying he’s the for sure answer to replace Pickard but to sit there and call him garbage because of 2 games while defending our goaltending all season is ridiculous.

Lol I remember there was ONE time he called something. And the NHL network were treating him like just won his first Oscar, and he looked so appreciative and relieved to have got it right, like it was a career defining moment.

Not until McDavid has been extended. Is where I stand. The 9.25M freed up is ever so enticing though. But I can’t see this organization moving on from the core of McD, Drai, Nurse all best buddies who started this whole thing together until they’ve won it.
Plus Nurse has a NMC and so a trade was never going to happen no matter what we want, and is not going to happen in the future.

what for

when you factor in the extra money we gave Perry and Josh Brown above the league min. that they barely deserve, its basically the difference between a random 4th liner and a Holloway type player.

With all our buyouts and Brown bonus and all the stupid shit we've done its a miracle we're still competing for the division.

Perry has been fantastic this year. Well worth the contract

I personally don't think that Quick could handle a starter's workload at this point in his career. He'd be an upgrade on Pickard but if Stu falters we're still screwed.

Kaliyev on the Oilers would be very interesting. But they don't have the space.

Hard to see him slipping through. Lots of teams need goalscorers and he is one.

I don't see the harm in claiming him. He's young and cheap enough that he could still become something and he has a familiarity with our division as well. That said he has only played 5 games this season, is he coming off a significant injury?

I still think we need a hitter. Who can we target?

If you go back to last year, we only have 2 active players from our top 10 in terms of hits/60 currently playing.

Having said that, a lot of these players were depth role players that played less than 10 minutes per game. Podkolzin doesn't hit as much as Holloway but he's been a decent replacement. Kapanen has been a more useful player than any of Caggiula, Carrick, Lavoie and Erne. Emberson is 11th on the list and has been a better fit than Desharnais to this point.

Really the big missing piece from this year and last year is Evander Kane. We need him back in the lineup. He's the only player that saw significant minutes that we didn't replace to this point.

I don't see the point in adding a guy to the 4th line who plays less than 10 minutes a night. We could get a face puncher but I would rather have Kapanen/Perry in the lineup instead. Here are some guys that I would consider bringing in on a depth role:

Ty Kartye 10:34 TOI/GP 18.25 Hits / 60
Garnet Hathaway 11:52 TOI/GP 17.48 Hits / 60
Mathieu Olivier 14:00 TOI/GP 15.74 Hits / 60
Beck Malenstyn 10:30 TOI/GP 13.72 Hits / 60
Eeli Tolvanen 13:35 TOI/GP 12.32 Hits / 60
Ty Dellandrea 11:48 TOI/GP 12.25 Hits / 60
Brock McGinn 11:43 TOI/GP 12.02 Hits / 60
Trent Frederic 14:09 TOI/GP 11.89 Hits / 60
Luke Kunin 15:09 TOI/GP 10.28 Hits / 60
Jordan Greenway 15;55 TOI/GP 10.27 Hits / 60
