They should play him when the other team is collapsing low in front of their tender. Skinner has a fast stick and can get shot off quickly

Exactly. Jeff Skinner is not moving under any circumstances, and the team probably feels like he will eventually find his stride and consistency. There isn't going to be any hardball tactics. It wouldn't even be worth it. We will need veterans to sign for cheap 1-2 year deals in years to come. How we treat someone like Skinner will affect our reputation with that kind of player. If Skinner isn't good enough the only way out is to wait it out
Yeh I can’t see it happening. Especially with 9Mish in cap coming from accrual and Kane.

Not seeing it with Arvidsson. Will give it a few more games but if it's not coming that's too much of a contract commitment for a player that's filling no team need.

John Gibson would help us a lot more than what he's bringing

Arvidsson + 2nd for Gibson @30% retained. At least he gets to go back to the LA area so it should be an easy move for his family.

Skinner doesn't look like a great fit here either. It's frustrating but this team honestly probably needs a forward more than a D.

I’m sure we can find suitors for both Henrique and Skinner. They both need to be gone if we have any chance at a cup. I’m positive Ryan will be replaced by Philip at seasons end. Perry, Janmark and Brown have all been good. Kapanen has been impressive. But we won’t win a cup with Henrique and Skinner making up 2/3s of our 3rd line. Florida’s 3rd line has Lundell and Luostarinen. We need bottom 6 drivers that can match that speed and intensity.

He’s on pace for 15 goals playing 11 mins a night on the 3rd or 4th line and minimal PO whose centre has 9 points. He is nowhere close to PTO territory and is probably underpaid.
He's also a team worst (more than double the next closest guy) -10 on what is otherwise one of the best even strength teams in the league.

You think the Oilers can move an severely underperforming 3M cap hit without adding?
Weirder things have happened this season. Jacob Trouba not only didn't cost assets or retention to dump, he actually somehow returned a draft pick.

There's no shot you seriously think Jeff Skinner is playing at a 3 million dollar level, let alone underpaid. The guy is barely playing above a league minimum level.

That's true. Trouba trade makes it seem like anything can happen cause he's trash. That said, GM's circle jerk over hit old school hitting, so that probably played a part.

Trouba for sure got the big hitting RHD bonus pricetag, but I'm sure there's someone out there who will drool over Skinner's previous 30 goal seasons. And if I'm being completely honest, there's probably a fit out there for him somewhere (read: non-playoff team) that can make use of his shooting ability despite his warts. I hear Buffalo and Chicago are having issues scoring. ;)

And yet is on pace for 15 goals not playing with McDavid or Draisiatl and no PP time

He also manages to be a possession black hole and complete defensive liability on arguably the best possession team and a top 5 defensive team in the league. He's right down there with Adam Henrique, Derek Ryan, and Troy Stecher competing for the title of worst player on the team. Janmark's numbers suck too but he also has to play a lot with Skinner/Henrique and at least is good on the penalty kill.

I didn’t say he didn’t suck and wasn’t a black hole on this team. The original response was the idea he is PTO material and Oilers would have to give up assets to move him this year which I don’t think they would. GMs are stupid and will look at his pace of scoring. Side note- Henrique and Skinner signing in lieu of Holloway looks worse every day

Fitting. Getting paid was the only thing he was good at.
His numbers were better than Stu’s on a much worse teaM
