If SJ flipped Karlsson to Carolina for Pesce +++

Think Ceci + 1st could land Pesce from SJ?

Nurse - Pesce
Ekholm - Bouch
Kulak - Broberg
Desharnais

Would be pretty damn sexy - only works if Bouch signs a contract on the lower rage and we squeeze Mcleod again but would be nice.

Would be humorously ironic if after all the comments about Holland not squeezing teams, he turns around and squeezes his own player who took less the year before to fit.

Assuming that Pesce is a possibility, probably going to cost 2 firsts (late 20-32) for a Pesce.

Oilers could send off 2024 first and 2025 top 10 protected first.

Then move Ceci out for a 2nd or 3rd or w/e.

Cap world - flat cap yet again depth players get squeezed it is just the state of the world. By squeezing I am meaning give bouch a 2 year bridge and then Mcleod 1 at like 1.4-1.5MM instead of 1.8-2MM.

Not sure I buy that I think with a negotiated extension sure but if he is moved to a SJ or the like in a bigger trade and then flipped more as a rental a low end top 4 guy and a first is probably a decent starting point. I wouldnt do 2 firsts for a likely rental but would definitely add to Ceci + 1st just dont know what level of prospect I would consider.

Do not see the Canes being able to afford EK if they sign Teresenko

Also not that it has any bearing on us but
Do not see the Canes being able to afford EK if they sign Teresenko
Tarasenko just changed his agent when he was supposed sign. Reported very very recently so I would think you only change your agents if you strongly disagree with them when reporters have you rumoured to sign.

I would think that they are doing a full re-evaluation of his options. Edit: I.e. he wants to sign with the oil for $775k a year :sarcasm:

Yeah...I hear you.
It should be obvious enough but yet there are a number of posters that are convinced that Holland should have done more with the defence.
When you lose 2 legit top 4 dmen within a year thats a major blow for any team to recover from.

Just imagine how much better this team would be with just one of those 2 dmen in the lineup instead of Ceci.

Ekholm probably isn't here if Klef and Larsson still are.
Im not so sure about that.
Likely its Ceci that isnt here.

same, it's very disheartening

Why? You know who else lost to the cup champs
Where does a guy like Gurianov play? Aren't we pretty much locked in for wingers?

They could maybe use a guy at #3RW, but I would assume one of Janmark or Holloway play their off side there since one of them would be knocked out of lineup if they bring someone else in.

We're locked in for wingers?

Kane - Hyman
???? - Brown
Foegele - ????
Janmark - ????

Frankly I'd like to be able to run RNH as a center on his own line. Something like;

Filler - McDavid - Brown
Kane - Draisaitl - filler
Foegele - RNH - Hyman
Janmark - McLeod - Ryan

Of the filler pieces we have is pretty much just Holloway. Obviously Hyman and foegele can rotate around a bit.

But I think there is room for a Patrick Kane or say a Denis Gurianov. A Toews or a Bergeron would be really nice too.

Some interesting scuttlebutt here including speculation that Carolina and Nashville have discussed Pesce and support that EK is likely a two team race between Carolina and Penguins.

Pittsburgh is currently over the cap on 22 contracts, most of their team has NMC's or NTC. What would a trade for Karlsson even look like?

What’s everyone think of Denis Gurianov? Scored 20 goals a few years ago and has wheels. Could be had for under 1,000,000
Personally I think the Oil need to prioritize a strong veteran 4C who can win face-offs and support the own zone defending requirement to help this team compete against elite true Cup contenders. Ideally a bit of edge and greasiness. They have a couple of cheap internal options for support scoring with Holloway and Lavoie.

Woodcroft has pretty much exclusively used both RNH and Ryan at wing. Realistically, I'd have them as locks to play there.

Ya, I hear you. I think this might be Dubas chest pump up signally to his new team's fanbase. That said, Friedman in the season end 32 Thoughts podcast and the link I gave both suggest it's a two team race for EK. A better run Carolina organization has way more flexibility. Weird fit with Burns though.

EDIT: Never hurts either to try to inflate the acquisition price of a division rival.

Idk I think it's mostly because we haven't had enough real wingers to have RNH on his own line. But if you can make that happen I think you do 100%.

If we don't add at wing then you have to play RNH in top 6, but if you get one more top 6 winger you can almost run 3 first lines. As it stands if you run that way you have one strong first line then a super star with no support and a 1/2 C tweener with no support. Ends up being a first line and two third lines. So obviously two first lines is better.

But if you can give RNH Hyman and Foegele/janmark and then have real top 6 talent at lines one and two with Brown and Kane, maybe it becomes three first lines. It gets a bit sketchy when the filler on those lines is a rookie and another rookie. But if it can be like Kane and whichever rookie is doing the best? Maybe that works out.

Zero chance that Pesce is worth two 1sts as a rental. He's a good shutdown Dman but their defence is carried by Slavin. Ekholm is a much better Dman and he had 3 years left on his contract when we gave essentially two 1sts for him.

Not just Burns but supposedly Deangelo is coming as well. Not a lot of ice time to go around for RHD's.

Honestly I dont mind Holloway and Lavoie/Bourgault being filler on a 2nd/3rd line.

Kane - McDavid - Brown
Holloway - Drai - Hyman
Foegele - Nuge - Bourgault/Lavoie
Janmark - McLeod - Ryan

Not ideal but still one of the best forward cores in the league. Worst case scenario based on what we have heard we sign a depth forward play Nuge in the top 6 and that would kick Bourgault/Lavoie off the team.

The talk around here is Pesce for Nylander close to straightup.

some SJ fans are refusing to accept that as a done deal.
They're going to be very disappointed if Grier waits until next season to trade him. He's not going to repeat last season and the trade will be San Jose retaining half and adding assets for another team to take him.
