Kane was pretty damn good until he got injured last year.
He was okay. But after injury, whenever that was he kept playing and was pretty damn bad. Constantly killed plays, made bad passes. Almost took out McDs knee at one point. Hurt us immensely in the Panthers series too. If he was that hurt, he really shouldn’t have been playing.

I’m not sure how anyone could have watched this season and not come to appreciate what Kane brings. We are still butter soft. Even injured he was by far our most physical winger and our best 5 on 5 goal scorer after Leon and Connor.

100%
Kane brings an element that this team desperately needs. Even with Kane in the lineup I would still like to see more functional heaviness on this roster.

I appreciated him going after Chucky in the Flames series. And going after Quinn in the Nucks series.

But What did he do against the Stars and Cats though? Besides bad passes, killing plays, and racking up minuses.

He’s a game changer when he’s playing well. He hurts us when he sucks.

Kane was extremely inconsistent and had games where he made the entire fanbase want to tear its hair out with the penalties, giveaways, or poor defensive zone effort. He is also a much more impactful player than the 10.5 million dollar trio of suck in Arvidsson/Henrique/Skinner. We're a significantly worse team up front without Kane. We need his forechecking ability/speed even if you ignore the intimidation aspect of his game. Downgrading from McLeod and Holloway to Henrique and Skinner doesn't help either.

Kane played hurt too much of the time and it showed.
He is very effective when he is healthy and assuming he heals 100% he should be good to go once he knocks the rust off.

I hope so. His playing injured/playing healthy history is so hard to figure out. There’s not exactly a public record of it. I guess we can assume he was injured throughout the playoffs, we know that for sure. But there was times last year in the regular season I wondered if he’s playing hurt or just playing bad.

We’ll find out for sure though this year, he’s taking the necessary time off to be at 100%. So we’ll be able to see what game he’s got.

Who knew the janitor could move like that.

It was that one rush i noted in the GDT that Janmark was the MacKinnon now.

That’s insane that that was the 2nd fastest in player tracking history though. He should try to unleash that more.

Yeh. I definitely had my share of frustration with Kane’s play last year. Unfortunate cause when he’s at his best he’s a playoff beast.

I got time for the trio of suck, I think their game will come around. Arvie had his moments with Drai and was buzzing out there before injury. Henrique is starting to get more looks. Skinner is showing flashes of creativity and skill but executing like shit right now, could change soon.

I mean what did Draisaitl do in the cats series? When your that banged up there’s not much you can do. At that point it’s on the coach.

There is a public record of it though. He literally said in an interview he had a sports hernia going back to December. At the end of the playoffs they said he at that point he had two hernias, torn abductors and two abdomen tears. All of this was public and discussed on here. Maybe you just missed it?

It is interesting how Jackson said the org's focus was to bring back a youth movement. Since then we lost Broberg and Holloway because we needed to get some older wingers, and we've passed up on adding Fabbro or Jiricek, and it seems like we could have outbid for Tomasino if we really wanted him. I get the feeling the defenseman we add will be well over 30.

Granted, they brought in Podkolzin and Emberson, although it's not like gave up big asset value for them.

I’m not sure we passed on Jiricek - apparently Columbus had many firm offers and they took what they thought was the best one. My guess is they will want an experienced D as we’re in win now mode.

That didn't come out till after, and yeh i did miss that presser. Throughout the year though, it was like is healthy? Is he not? Is his wrist healed? I guess we found out after the fact that he was injured Post-December. Good news I guess. We can pin him sucking on that.

Didn't hurt us like Kane. But to Knob's credit, they sat Kane when it was apparent he was hurting us out there.

That’s not really unique to Kane though. We have absolutely no idea what’s going on with Arvidsson right now for example.

Never said it was. That's just how it is. But assuming he was healthy Post-Wrist Recovery but Pre-December Hernia, there were still warts showing up in his game. I am just saying I'm not confident what version of Kane we will be getting, personally I'm worried about his game, but seeing injured reduced play could be biasing my view.

Gonna disagree that drai didn’t hurt us in the finals. We win the cup pretty handily if he could score even a few goals. Instead he was just kind of there.

Difference between didn't hurt and didn't help us. He didn't help us much, just some assists if i remember.

Going to completely disagree with you there. Kane had 19 points in the first 22 games and was in my opinion the best player on the entire team, McDavid and all, to start the season last year. He was the only guy who came ready to play from game 1.

Had a hatty in that time frame too didn't he? Well maybe I'm being hard on Kaner for his post injury play.
