Yeah I'm getting more sold on going after this guy. He has elite level reflexes. Having him on the team will make a bigger difference than having a OK no.4 or a more expensive tier no.4 D.
I would still take him, he plays on the worst team in the NHL, nights like that will happen to anyone.

It is not the time for the GM to rattle the pots, nor is it appropriate to praise a team that has appeared disinterested through the opening 22 games of Bowman’s tenure in Edmonton.
“I wouldn't say I'm panicked. But I'm also not pleased,” he said. “I’m sort of in the middle, where I think we can do things better.
“We haven't played our best, but we're still in contention.”

He's not wrong. We're 6th in expected goals against and 10th in high danger shots against.
Our record is a reflection of bad goaltending, a bottom-5 PP, and a forward group of exactly 2.

To be fair, we're going to remember the successes more than the failures.
Like does anyone even remember David Rundblad? There's probably dozens of guys like that.
No it's more like some people are calling out Bouchard for his horrible play this year and others have some weird bias blinders on where in their world Bouchard can do no wrong. He has some immunity.

It’s interesting when it’s written out like this. But I would argue while some of these guys may be successful after leaving, not many of them really turned out to be amazing. Byram for example has been fine.
McDonaugh probably turned into a top pairing guy. The other are middling to bottom pairing guys. Still useful but not amazing.
Sergachev I think is too old/established compared to the rest to be considered.

I've personally never been a big fan of Savoie. In junior he was on strong teams and seemed to really lack IQ. He's a small, speedy north south player
There is a reason Buffalo moved on from him....
I think it's another JJ strike out, unless we can move him for an asset.

Hockey IQ has never been an issue for Savoie. Interesting that you think it is.
For me he is a guy that goes 100 miles an hour and has relied on his speed and athleticism growing up over his IQ. (similar to Mcleod, Athanasiou, etc)
I don't really see him as anything more than an average run of the mill NHL winger
Time will tell, but this is my stance.

Even without Hall I think the potential with our forward group is there. Somehow get Nuge to 3c where he belongs.
Well im not sure i would give up on him so soon but if you do want to trade him Montreal loves these types of guys. Just tell them he is 'the flower' in the making. And ask them for Reinbacher. Ken Hughes will initially tell you to f off as he should but who knows what you will get a shot at. Right now i suspect (i dont know cause haven't watched a full game yet in the A this year) that they have Savoie focused on the south side of the puck which is smart and they are making sure he isnt going to wall and battling hard against the bigger guys. PLus the guy really needs a big center with some good vision -- maybe Jarventie will come back healthy. (We have a BIG center that likes to go to the right wall and battle and can execute blind passes like nobodies business and able to find guy sneaking into the slot. Big german MF.
But don't get it wrong. Unlike his brother Muck (Carter) this kid has wheels. And a great set of mitts. And excellent anticipation. And a fine tuned trigger on the PP. He will one day be a good maybe not great NHLer.
Sometimes the little guys need time to adapt their game -- they played one way in junior but cant play that exact way as a professional.
Don't you wish he would grow and inch? A get his real man strength on him now?

Stan Bowman should be subject to intense scrutiny until he delivers this team a championship. Same as Holland, same as Chiarelli, same as all the other OBC toadies that haven't delivered since '06.

Bouchard has had struggles this year, but he's still a net positive player and an elite defenseman. No amount of dumb "but like they're just like calling out that's he's played SO bad this year you guys" nonsense make him not elite.
