Our window to win should be at least 6+ years if management can build this team properly. They should be looking at what we need to win I was well as in the future. We should be looking at how the Wings and Penguins teams that had like a 20 year window to win. Adding a potential stud prospect like Jiricek helps that.

In theory yes but in reality we have shot ourselves in the skate several times

Friedman on Saturday Headlines says teams are making legitimate pitches and Columbus is mulling a Jiricek move. He notes there are reports about Edmonton, but Friedman himself doesn't think we are a match because we don't necessarily have what Columbus wants, a "young player similar in return"

Oh boy. The gnashing of teeth on here when Jiricek gets moved somewhere else will be unbearable.

They likely want Savoie versus the O’Reilly/Akey plus that the Oilers would be comfortable offering.

It's gonna take Savoie.

I would do it. But I don't think Columbus would be interested as they have their own Savoie-types on their roster and in their system. I hope by "young player similar in return", they want an RHD of similar age. Juice a Beau Akey package and pray to the hockey deity to which you subscribe.

Beau Akey (RHD prospect, a draft year younger)
STL 2nd '25 (currently 42nd OV, give them all the offer sheet picks!)
Brady Stonehouse (plays on the 67's top line with CBJ top-10 prospect Luca Pinelli)
Anything else (get it done)

Curious. Since Vegas has claimed Raph, are there restrictions for them trading him? He's been pretty crap for them in the AHL. I wonder if we can get him back for only future considerations.

It must be a bitter pill for him because he was legitimately a call up option for us and then Vegas claimed him. There is no way they’d call him up with how the year has gone for him there.

It's gotten to the point where he's scratched now too. Either that or injured.

Oh so we're going with a <20gp sample size over a 3 years sample size because Gibson was too injured this year to inevitably drop below him like every other stage of Skinner's career? That's the straw we're grasping at now?
We can look at last year if that makes you feel better where Skinner was 36th in goals saved above expected. Or we can look at his entire playoff body of work.
