Friedman believes the Oilers are looking at David Jiricek, Ivan Provorov and Marcus Petterson. He did say that, on Columbus, Provorov is who we are looking at more strongly
Finding a way to get both Jiricek & Pettersson would be huge, it would dramatically shift the blueline.

I still think if you moved Jeff Skinner out, fitting Pettersson isn't too bad.

Stauffer's right hand man Brenden said we can't afford to wait until the deadline anymore.

Stauffer did say recently on his show that he strongly believes that we are after a puckmoving dman left handed or right handed.

I have my bets on Provorov but I don't care if its him or Petterson at this point

Our defense has actually held up decently considering who we have, its our scoring, speed, and goaltending that need major work.

Yeah could be a replacement for Arvidsson. Kapanen's xGF% has been kinda crap for a few years now, as its been around 44% for 3 years now. So don't expect anything good from this player.
Well this team's advanced stats have been good so maybe he can bring something we lack. Skating?

They probably would not, but maybe Geekie?

Or Andrew Peeke.
Frederic is the guy they seem to be pushing out the door at the moment.

And the thing that roster seems to be short on is skilled wingers. Marchand is carrying a lot of weight at the moment.

The Oilers could use a guy like Frederic who is willing to battle and will drop the gloves when required. He'd probably be a popular guy right off the hop.

Frederic would be a massive get if what you say is true, can play in the top-9 and adds a physical component they could very much use.

I thought he might be a lock to stick around. And I agree, Jeff Skinner fits Boston's needs alot better than the Oilers.

Why Jiricek. He's trash. No time to develop him.

Provy would be awesome
No no, Jiricek has a ton of upside and is cost controlled right now.

Provorov is one and done, he's gone to the Southern US as fast as the season ending.

Personally I think they should be looking for an ambidexterous puck moving d-man that plays with a flat stick so he can shoot or pass from either side.

The huge benefit is that he is cheap RD with interesting upside, and young. It would be a bit of an inspired move to recover the loss of Broberg. I'm not sure if Jiricek would have to pass through waivers if sent down, then Columbus would be motivated to make a trade, just like how we got Podkolzin

Plus we could make both moves. Jiricek is an easy move to make today. An expensive guy like Andersson or Provorov could be a deadline deal. Let Jiricek have a shot in the meantime.

The whole point of a trade now vs the TDL is to help the struggling team. Jiricek by no means does that as he's struggling to develop himself. Guy can't even get icetime over there and the word is defensively he's swiss cheese

Provy makes way more sense

defensively sure but, other than the top pair, it has been horrendous in terms of creating offence, making breakout passes or zone exits. Good passing out of the D zone leads to more rush chances

Two lefties were looking at. Were just creating a logjam again.
Provorov plays the right side in Columbus. Petterson can play the right side as well.

I don't love any of them, my preference is Connor Murphy as he plays the right side naturally and would be a great fit for Nurse I think, like how Josh Manson helped complete Colorado's D when he was acquired. Murphy also has a year more of term which will help keep the band together a little while longer.

I am fully prepared for Provorov though, too much smoke. I just hope he's the right guy and the advanced stats this year are painting an accurate picture (high D-zone starts with an xGA differential just above water and decent but not great OI Sv%).

You know who is showing out though in his few games though? One Dante Fabbro. Every number you can think of is better than Provorov's in Columbus. Too bad Stan didn't force the issue and try to find a third team to retain on his contract.
