Rough look last year at game 19 we had 58 goals for, this year we are some how worse with 50 goals. Both years were bad starts offensively but this year is atomically bad for offense.

The PP last year at this time had 17 goals, this year 8 goals. So that's a 9 goal loss there.

Hyman has 1 PP goal, RNH has 0 goals in almost 50 PP attempts where the top unit gets almost all the PP time.

The PP is killing us.

Kane also had 9 goals through 19 games last season. Actually surprised it's not worse considering no Kane AND no PP. The rest of the forwards eerily all kinda balance each other out from last year. Foegele had 3 goals, Skinner has 3 goals. McLeod had 0 goals, Podkolzin has 0 goals. Holloway had 1 goal, Arviddson has 2 goals.

Also idk can anybody guess where RNH plays on the PP from this picture?

They actually have more 5 on 5 goals (well 1 more) than last year, though keeping in mind last year was not a good start offensively either.

Oilers offense heat maps last year vs this year. Look how much less we’re going to the front of the net. We became a perimeter team over the summer.

How many of those goals were Hyman taps in at the front of the net? It looks like teams are either game planning for that or he is not doing the same things as last year.

Accoring to Moneypuck 5 on 5

We are 7th best for high danger shots for (Vancouver is 4th worst, yikes)

We are 3rd best for medium danger shots for

We are no.1 for low danger shots for (the infamous point muffin)

We are shooting a lot it seems like, and yes a bunch of that is inefficient point shots, but we are still getting lots of higher and medium danger chances that aren't being buried.

Does anyone remember when this team turned it around last year?

November 21st lol. Unfortunately it feels like the team and front office is just banking on them fluking their way into another 16 game heater. No changes required despite even Stauffer last night of all people hammering the "doing the same thing over and over with the same results..." line.

These metrics are 5on5, so not as many. Many of Hymans tap ins were PP. Still, he's not getting either right now, and neither is anyone else. We're back to 17-20 Oilers, MCdrai and not much else. I can trust Hyman and Bouchard to get better, but the rest of the forward core and goaltending scares me.

They were 13-15 (sub .500) even after the coaching hire, it started to turn Christmas week (Dec. 22) when they went on that giant win streak.

We started 2-9-1.... Knoblauch was hired on Nov 12th, when we were 3-9-1.

After that we were 10-2 in Knoblauch's first 12 games... so essentially he helped us scrap our way back to 500 immediately.

Then we lost three in a row

Then we won the next 16 games.

So at that point we were 29-14-1
