Or it might work? These two goalies got us to the playoffs in our managements eyes. They won’t make any change there

Why does everyone think offence is only from our forwards? You do know how important breakout passes are to offence, specifically rush chances? The only one who can make a decent pass is Bouchard and Ekholm at times. That’s more important than you think. Florida had how many puck moving Dmen?

Well if you're not going to make any changes to a goaltending tandem that's last in the league ... I mean, do you really have any right to complain?

If that's the organizational philosophy, fine, but almost no other contending team would do that and the Oilers really have no business complaining later on when if they don't get the results they want.

We didn't lose anyone from the back end who can make an outlet pass ... Ceci and Desharnais were terrible at that. So nothing should be that different from last year on that front.

The defense is carrying the offense this year if anything, Ek/Bouchard/Nurse/Kulak have more goals than Hyman/RNH/Skinner/Arvidsson/Podkolzin combined.

Bowman and Jackson still asleep at the wheel this morning after watching their team get embarrassed again. Nice job if you can get it.

I’d prefer to go after a younger guy like Jirichek than some middling guy. But its not exactly easy for young players to succeed here for whatever reason so shrug.

I honestly might prefer taking a shot on Jiricek than Petterson.

Petterson will probably cost somewhere between a 1st or 2 2nds ... and then there's no gauruntee we can keep him after that, our cap situation will be tight and he will be a UFA that can go elsewhere. If he does well here then he'll probably command a 6+ million dollar deal, which we probably can't afford.

Jiricek at least is someone you can work with and he will be here for multiple years.

I agree, but the problem with Jiricek is that you'll have to extend him almost immediately to avoid another Broberg scenario.

Kulak's year so far gives the Oilers a bit of flexibility if he can still give us good top four minutes. It's not difficult to add a good vet D at the deadline if that's all that's needed.

The tough decision is the one we make with Bouchard once the playoffs are over.

You either bridge Bouchard or you pay him 9.5-10 on an extension.

I think his agent will likely want to bridge because everyone knows the cap is going up and if Bouchard has a down year they likely will bet on him bouncing back.

The D has been fine, until Nurse got hurt even his game was turning around. The main problem was the PK, but that is getting better.

The offense is bottom 10 in the NHL and tied with SAN JOSE for goals for.

Let me say that again, the offense is tied with SAN JOSE. And the Sharks don't even have Celebrini.
I cannot stand when people keep saying D is a problem. For a run, YES, lets get another good dman. Of course.

Scoring/special teams/ and specifically goaltending is the issue.

Because the list of underperforming forwards with an abnormally low shooting percentage is longer than the list of guys producing.

The Oilers are still getting clean exits. They're getting sustained zone time. The problem is that they aren't turning it into goals. You either have to come to terms that some of these are just poor fits or you need to find a combination that works.

I said multiple times the Oilers should take a flyer on Dylan Strome for cheap.

Welp. Sure would be nice to have him right about now.

Our management teams just love to sit back and watch opportunities roll on past.
I was on board. Most people called him washed, slow, etc lol

Florida's bottom 3 D are also a pile of nothing ...

34 year old Kulikov
Uvis Balskis (?)
33 year old Nate Schmidt

All bargain basement adds.

And then they have Adam Boqvist who is having a bad year.

It's not like they're loaded with stars.

Anything of note that was said?
Ah I didn’t see it. Say anything interesting?
Sorry, didn't watch the Jackson interview. Only saw part of the Bowman interview as well, but just the fun part where they asked him about his time away from hockey that was phrased in such a way that one might considering it was a voluntary absence on his part.

Someone else will have to fill in the blanks if they said anything relevant.

I don't think any change will make a huge difference until you change the mind set on the ice. Puck is not going in and the players continue to set up the same way on the PK, PP and when we have puck possession. Everyone knows Drai button hooks when he crosses the blueline and he sets up at the goalies left side. Everyone knows Hyman will hug the goalie's right post. Everyone knows McD will skate in circles around the offensive zone perimeter. And every team knows if you surround your goalie with all 5 skaters the Oilers will continue to pass the puck on the outside.
Change it up boys, you have been figured out.

Would he be bringing Ovie with him?

He would probably have 4 points here. It’s that kind of year.

Calvin Pickard should be getting the starts until they find an upgrade or Skinner has a miracle and looks different.

He is ranked 24/41 in GSAE
Skinner is 40/41

Pickard 24 in SAVE%AE
Skinner 39/40

Pickard 24th in GAA Better Than Expected
Skinner 38/41
