The implication that MPH is another one of those untrustworthy "advanced stats" is maybe the funniest thing I've seen here in a while. Physics isn't real if it's JFresh posting them.
It isn't just MPH though. When Sergachev is on one of those lists, you probably have to consider there's probably some missing context.

In relation to Murphy, I don't think anyone's ever viewed him as a burner. And him being on all three lists is notable. But some of these guys may just not exert themselves as much as others.

Another example is the one that showed RNH as being below the 50th percentile. Didn't have much of a problem outskating Macelli in OT the other night. Neither of those guys are slow.

Sergachev has a few other things going for him:

He's also got 50 more bursts than Murphy in 24 games, so it's not like 20th is all that close to 1st.

If we get Nick 'the p***y' Jensen he can damn well bring Carter Yakemchuk with him. And Carter can damn well put Benny Kindel in his suitcase.

Bob Stauffer saying that it will be hard for Derek Ryan to have any ice time after Oilers are healthy and hints that, other than Noah Philp, Oilers may be looking for a 4th line centre as well.

This here is interesting as well:

Jensen would be a terrific addition, has two years left and would be $2M at 50% retention which is perfect for our cap structure. He's somehow a +11 on Ottawa and would round out our top four nicely.

You would have to pay for Jensen with retention and he would probably start to decline by the end of the two years ...so want to be conscious of how much you pay. PLus its better to pair him with a bigger guy. But he can skate and transition we and pass adequately -- not great vision but decent. Watched him live one time in Detroit. He played pretty good.

If Oilers are after a 4C, would not be surprised if they'd go hard after Jake Evans.

Just don't make it a package for Matheson as well, please.

Some random Twitter guy just proposed Bouchard for Brady Tkachuk. Iam scratching my ass now thinking about it.

Absolutely not. I would love to have a player like Brady Tkachuk, but moving Bouchard for him would be the definition of stupidity. If anybody that should be targeted from the sens, it should be Artem Zub.

Jfresh probably is legit in this case where he sources from the NHL's official numbers. That can be double checked and verified.

In general though, I understand the suspiciousness of him. All he's doing is putting numbers into his equation and that source equation or source numbers can't be verified. So that leaves the possibility that he can editorialize the results as he see's fit. A couple of War Points off for this or that player, who's to say. No one can know.

I also find the whole practice of Charging for STATS ridiculous. Now if he was personally out there counting Corsi events to create WAR then, sure charge for it. But he's taking public numbers, putting them into a Personally determined equation and weighting based on years of OTHER peoples work to build the WAR model in the first place, then charging for that? Seems scummy to me. In the past this would be the work of a hobbyist/enthusiast and provided to the NHL community for free.

Ryan makes the most sense to sit. He needs the rest anyways. That said, he proved me wrong last year and still brought some game to the playoffs. He may be sitting but I don't think it'll be the last we see of him, he still finds a way to produce in a 4th line role.

Could have a few teams willing to part with some players and shake things up come the TDL.

NYI, NYR, OTT, NSH, SEA among those currently out of playoff position that I could see moving players. NYR and NYI could do major overhauls if they continue to underperform. NSH might go full sell off mode. You'd have to imagine CGY will be looking to trade off some players for futures as well.

Hey, if you're good at something, don't do it for free.

Also, it isn't just public numbers. Paying for it gives access to the privately tracked micro stats too.

4C has been the forwards group weak link since last season when they acquired Carrick. They need to focus on a speedy, right shot 4C.

4C? Maybe they should wait and see if Jarventie can stay healthy...he is on the cusp and if they can find a way to keep him motivated (can be a lazy f--k) the kid has some vision.
