Unless he takes a massive discount somewhere else.McDavid scoring that goal in improbable just like Crosby fashion in arguably an even more intense Canada-USA Final is his "Neo can dodge bullets" moment.
If there was any doubt that he is him, that's over. Even in Calgary, the radio station full of Flames fans was felating McDavid as the second coming this week and how they can't wait to cheer for him again in the Olympics even though they hate the Oilers.
That win was massive for Canada and the sport in general. It's rare that country needs a sporting event, but Canada needed that, even coach Cooper said it in the post-game.
There is no doubt that he is a winner and he is clutch and he is everything he's supposed to be. Which means if he's not winning here, there's only one way the blame is going to go from now on.
There is also legitimate questions about whether this team is built to win in the long run. Hyman and Ekholm are going to be 33 and 35 at the end of the playoffs this year. If they don't do it now, when is it supposed to happen? Those guys are respectively probably the 3rd and 4th most important pieces on the team (sorry Bouch) and they are not getting younger.
His best chance of winning will be here.
I cant wait to watch you regurgitate the same thing over and over again until he re-signs though.
I'm sure everyone here will enjoy it.
