I said it earlier in the thread- if he doesn’t play ball they will move him. That would be something else if they up and dealt him on the 1st.

I mean he's either out until playoffs or he gets traded, but Oilers are using that cap space. I know that is true 100%That would be something else if they up and dealt him on the 1st.
There is no such thing as the complete picture stat but there is a big difference between +/- and something like QS%. The latter is far less dependent on the team or the players that a guy plays with.
Those two games took me back.So the last two games with countless defensive break downs and give ways is the goalies fault? And that the Hawks cup era team was more consistant, structured, and disciplined was not a benefit of Crawford?
Seravalli and Gregor both on said on the DFO rundown podcast the Oilers aren't trading for a goalieStan Bowman in a recent interview said he's not trading for a goalie.
If you want to look at a single game that is a very different thing than looking at a career or over a full season. So the last two games with countless defensive break downs and give ways is the goalies fault he didn't have a quality start? Or that the team has had games and periods like that all seasons where they don't show up? And that the Hawks cup era team was more consistant, structured, and disciplined was not a benefit of Crawford?
Good thing Gregor is always wrongSeravalli and Gregor both on said on the DFO rundown podcast the Oilers aren't trading for a goalie
T-minus 10 until meltdown...
The Lucic tweet with such certainty there was no interest in him then he was dealt 24 hours later will live in infamy.Good thing Gregor is always wrong![]()

No stat is perfect but as a first order measure of consistency this one for me has a lot of potential value.

The media is in love with Skinner cause he’s local. That’s it.LT basically blaming McDavid instead of the goalies. Wow. Edmonton media really is brain dead… wow.
McDavid without Bouchard = 4 Nation GoldReading back a few pages, I'll agree with LT to some extent that McDavid needs to pick it up or get some rest, it's never a popular opinion to take shots at the franchise player and best hockey player in the world especially right after scoring the "golden goal", but the facts remain he is a -11 in his last 4 games and that isn't all on goaltending. Also for those saying well if it isn't just on goaltending then it must be Bouchard's fault, he was -4 over that same 4 game sample size.
5v5 numbers 2024/25:
Also McDavid's GA/60 with Bouchard is 2.2
Bouchard's GA/60 without McDavid is 2.32
McDavid's GA/60 without Bouchard is 6.09 ***downright terrible***

but seravalli said bowman told him no in regards to trading for a goalie l o l o l o l
I'm almost certain that we won't see a significant goalie trade and it's going to be mayhem around here. It'll be entertaining if nothing else.this place will melt down when the Oilers don't get a goalie lol
I'm here for it
There's also no real incentive for the Ducks to move him. They're near the cap floor and we're not exactly drowning in assets. People saying "Just trade them Skinner", what would that do for Anaheim, exactly?I'm almost certain that we won't see a significant goalie trade and it's going to be mayhem around here. It'll be entertaining if nothing else.
It's funny seeing folks trying to will Gibson to Edmonton into existence, basically ignoring what every insider is saying, connecting the dots between the Husso acquisition and Gibson having to be moved etc.
It's going to be quite a scene around here the late afternoon of March 7th when no goalie of note is acquired.
You are going to get a middle 6 forward and a 4th line face puncher and you are going to like it.With respect to the trade deadline I think the priority should be on Defense and Goaltending and that's where I want to spend the majority of assets. I think us playing a possession game is very important to us winning and going deep in the playoffs and I'm not sensing that McDavid, Bouch, and Hyman will have the same level of heroics this season, so IMO the easiest way to up possession is to improve the D.
That said it's real hard finding the perfect fit for Nurse, my gut is saying Pulock could be an ideal fit if we re-awaken the more dynamic part of his game, but that's certainly a gamble and while I don't foresee him stinking up the joint, his contract is rather long so it could break bad or good. My other ideal fit is Weegar, but I don't see CGY helping us out. Striking out ideal ones I'd probably go cheap and pick-up Maatta and just have a generally solid deep d-core, with pieces we can move around.
With respect to G I don't know, but I do think Talbot is the best value pick-up. While I don't foresee him dominating, I think he'll provide steady goaltending and IMO he's better than Niemi, Vernon, or Osgood who all won Cups.
I don't see us committing our big trade chips to forwards, but if we do I think McCann is an ideal linemate for McDavid.
For Draisaitl I think his ideal linemate is Rantanen, but I'm sure the team willing to pony up will have an extension in mind and I don't think we can pay what he wants, also CAR is in win now mode, so I'm thinking they'd be asking for Hyman as part of the trade.
I think the window might have closed already. Just about everybody on the roster is at the back side of their prime or past it so it's only going downhill or at least steady state for most guys. The last 2 years were their opportunity IMO. Doesn't mean they can't win it because McDavid and Draisaitl are who they are but I think the odds significantly lessened the moment they lost Game 7 last year and the year before when the west was weaker, they blew it by not beating Vegas in a winnable series. Those 2 years were their best shots IMO.The other major problem the Oilers have is guys like Hyman and Ekholm are getting to the age where a decline in their play is natural.
They don't have all the time in the world just because McDavid is 27. Who in the pipeline is replacing Ekholm and Hyman? Nobody.
It's now or never.
Virtually the entire roster sans Leon has taken a step back this season. Bouchard looks nothing like the player he was in the playoffs last year and Ekholm, while still solid, is starting to show cracks.I think the window might have closed already. I mean probably, Niemi was pretty mid though. They feel closer. Both Niemi and Crawford are better than Stuart
We are willing in into existence because it’s absolutely insane to not address this garbage goaltending.I'm almost certain that we won't see a significant goalie trade and it's going to be mayhem around here. It'll be entertaining if nothing else.

I like Gibson, he's a fine goalie...but he's expensive with the assets needed to acquire him doesn't guarantee anything...he may or may not choke during crunch timeI'm almost certain that we won't see a significant goalie trade and it's going to be mayhem around here.
