Give me Vejmelka or Gibson.
No talk about firing Dustin Schwartz = No care. Keep applying the band-aids, they'll never work.
Listen at the 44minute mark. Seravellie interviewed Bowman for his Frankly Speaking podcast that drops Wednesday.
Frank referenced that pod, and that he emphatically asked if the Oilers are going to be getting a goalie at the TDL, “and he said No.”
For what it’s worth…
Just listened to stupid Jamie McLennan and Rishaug yucking it up on GYB - "fans think they're going to trade Savoie for Shesterkin", both scoffing at the suggestion of trading for a better goalie than Skinner and suggesting there are no goalies to trade for.
Blackwood, Allen, and Ullmark were all traded within the last calendar year. I would have welcomed any of these goalies. Do your damn job Bowman or be prepared to find a new job this summer.
Why do people listen to our hockey media? They're worthless bums. They'll never point the fingers at what the real problems are because they know they'd lose their jobs."The fans are actually dumb" narrative from the media as it relates to goaltending is infuriating.
He's an expert at looking the other way on serious problems. What were we expecting?Bowman refusing to go all in this year would be a fireable offense as far as I'm concerned.
What the hell is this organization waiting for?

This weekend was an exclamation point on a season long problem. Our goaltending can barely hold it together when the defense is elite. When it's not elite there might as well be a shower curtain in goalI wouldn't read a damn thing into the games over the weekend. Overreacting to a tiny sample of terrible hockey is how teams get themselves into trouble.
Fortunately for your argument we have a whole season+ sample of evidence that we need to bring in a goalie.

Bouchard had a bad weekend. So did Ekholm, so did McDavid, so did both goalies. Kulak was terrible. Henrique should be arrested for grand theft for all he's accomplished this year. Klingberg scored a goal but he is absolutely terrible defensively. We've got a lot of problems; they're hardly limited to Bouchard. The Oilers got their show ran in both games. They gave up not 1 but 2 2 on 0s vs the Flyers, once while they were on the power play. And quite frankly they've been bad for a few weeks now, it's just that the cracks are starting to show. If anything they were probably lucky to not lose by more. This is where analytics don't tell the whole story. I don't see an advanced stat for "Absolute pizzas thrown up the middle by Bouchard".

Not saying that Bouchard is the only problem but he's certainly been at the forefront of questionable execution in his own end.Bouchard had a bad weekend. Vejmelka is the best option out there for me but we need Utah to fall out of the race

Whether its Vej, Gibson, or whoever.. if we run our current tandem into this year's playoffs, its GG Stanley cup. Heads should f***ing roll in the management if they keep the tandem the way it is. Idgaf what excuses will be brought up when teams like the Avs managed to find a way and get a goalie in Blackwood.
The owner needs to tell both Jackson and Bowman their jobs are on the line if they neglect the most important need on the team.Bowman refusing to go all in this year would be a fireable offense as far as I'm concerned.

This has to be our biggest need. Adding to the bottom 6 is idiotic, adding to the defence is idiotic. We are an offensive team and we need players that can play with our big guns. There are fundamental big issues with the core components of the team even looking at the big picture
1.) We don't have a starting goalie and two back ups. Both are sub .900 this year and neither can use the "Jay Woodcroft's system!" excuse as Knob/Coffey's system has been here all year long. You shouldn't have shit numbers behind a good defensive system. In Skinner's case his numbers have been cratering and falling for two years now. This experiment that somehow we could eek out some random 3rd round pick as our starter because he happened to be cheap and from Edmonton because the hockey gods "owed" us for Campbell is not working, stop pretending it is. Skinner is going to get murdered in a playoff round if he has to face a MacKinnon or Eichel tier player, he is not up for that challenge.
2.) We are still missing two top 6 forwards even after spending a boat load of money. And even more than that RNH is often useless at 5 on 5, Hyman is reverting back to his norm but both of these guys are aging on top of that. Kane is likely toast. You can't just pencil in Savoie as a top 6 lock, he hasn't proven that yet. We are going to be in trouble for forwards potentially not just this year but in the next 1-2-3 years, where are the top 6 forwards coming from to fill out the roster here?
3.) We still are likely one D short of a proper top 4 alignment. This is probably not as big of a need but still a concern. Klingberg is more likely a fit at the no.5/6 D spot, not as a top 4. Kulak can be moved up to the top 4, that's probably our best bet but even then you're running two left shots on your second pairing then and two right shots on your bottom pair.
1 and 2 are big concerns. If you're blowing assets now on more bottom 6 forwards it's idiotic. You need to spend assets you have on structural issues 1 and 2 listed above otherwise you are in big trouble short term and long term.
By the time he got here, the team had already gone "all-in", by signing Skinner and Arvidsson and leaving nothing for cap room, thus leaving Holloway and Broberg to open season for offer sheets.Bowman refusing to go all in this year would be a fireable offense as far as I'm concerned.
