On Rishaugs post game show, they highlight that Skinner is bottom of the league in most goalie stats, then get Jamie McLennan on to get his take. They talk about getting a guy for the AHL in case of injury to Stu, to keep Rodrigue from coming up. Then when Rishaug brings up "well fans want an upgrade on Stu" they proceed to mock fans by saying things like "well WHO is available for reasonable cost, like we all like to sit on our couch and talk about Shesterkin for Savoie deals but blah blah blah"

f***ing morons. Blackwood previously, Vejmelka and Gibson now. What there is no shortage of in this city, is braindead media that loves to shit on fans, but can't find their spine when it comes to criticizing the org for anything.

Rishaug also thought we would regret trading Barrie in the Ekholm deal. I like Rishaug but he still comes across as arrogant and needs to realize that fans are entitled to their opinions. I dont think he even realizes how much he does it.

Honestly in the segment I referenced, Jamie Mclennan was the most annoying. Had a stupid story about Strudwick in Vegas too, that he thought was amazing but is probably shared by a million other dudes in that city. But he's a goalie so his opinion on things is just so much better than fans 🙄

Atleast Rishaug pushed back on the AHL depth addition somewhat. We have that in either of our current netminders. We need a starter, though I don't think Jamie Mclennan has any idea what that looks like, he certainly hasn't ever seen one in the mirror.

Lol, media always trying to preemptively give Oilers management a pass because everything is so hard. 10 years and counting as incompetent management wastes McDavid's career. Chia endless passes until he was gone, then media blames him for stuff while giving Holland a pass. Now we can give Bowman as pass and blame Holland.

So so hard to properly address obviously issues with the team. Glad media is more concerned about apologizing in advance for the team rather than doing their own research and trying to demand a little of this org, so we avoid the Oilers being the first org to ever fail to win a cup after getting a clear generational talent.

You should’ve only focused on what McLennan said

Schwartz doesn't play goal for the Edmonton Oilers. If McDavid had a forward coach would he suddenly be shit?
How many posts did you complain about our head coach(es) ruining Schremp? Yakupov? etc.?

For all the blame that head coaches get when they are managing 19-21 players, shouldn't scrutiny be higher on a goalie coach who really only manages 2 goalies on a daily basis with the odd crumbs spent coaching AHL or prospect goalies.

Goaltending is such a technical position as well, where the goal is perfection and so much time is spent on movement, angles, glove positioning, reaction drills, good habits. No other coach has as much time or capacity to shape one or two specific players.

Would McDavid be shit without a forward coach probably not, but McDavid is in the running for being a top 5 player all time, he's not like the rest and even still I think a good coach enhances what we get out of him, maybe it's as little as 5% or 10% better, but it's still something.

While some will say 10% better would not be enough to make Skinner not shit; I think are underestimating how great of a perspective shift 10% better would create and also Schwartz has been able to mold him over his entire professional career, with a ton of daily meetings, one on one discussions, and specific drills, his impact should be significantly higher than 10% better.

With skaters it's more to do with deployment and linemates. With goalies there's 2 of them and one is usually deemed the starter. Schwartz sucks, but Skinner has to own some of this too.

It’s true we have lots of bottom 6 forwards but we could use another C and the PK could maybe use another specialist, although maybe better goaltending solves the PK. I think Derek Ryan regressing and now being off the team hurt the PK more than we give credit for. I guess McLeod and Vinny helped the PK quite a bit too.
Keep in mind if we add to the Top 6 it pushes players down to the bottom 6. Hypothetically adding a top 6 option pushes 2 players to the bottom 6 (with Kane back)

A bottom 6 TDL addition would go down as an F-

We were told we got rid of Holloway and Broberg to be able to make a "move" It's an Ekholm move or bust.

Who knows what adding a top 6 forward does when Knoblauch is obsessed with playing top six forwards in the bottom six and bottom six forwards in the top six.

Yesterday we started the game with Podkolzin, Kapanen, Perry and Savoie as our top six wingers and Skinner, Hyman, Arvidsson, and Brown as our bottom six wingers.

Anyone else find it very funny that this "fan" has been all over the place after the worst weekend of the year? Extremely funny and on brand.

Skinner, Arvy and Brown are not top 6 wingers. We really don't have to 6 wingers.
