Those clowns had no problem shitting on Binnington (deservedly) during the round robin of the 4 Nations, yet not a f***ing peep about Moustache. Instead they keep doubling down and defending him. The media in our market makes absolutely no f***ing sense. Good thing Stu's not from a European country, I guess.
Sorry I just spat out my beer at that nickname. Moustache? LOL nice. I like it

The plus side with them is their salary term is not very long. 3/4 years remaining would be a more serious issue. Teams generally know full well if they send out big salary, they have to take some back.
The bigger issue is that we've wasted the last year of 8.5 Draisaitl and bridge Bouchard. Holland saddled us with over 5 million in dead cap between Campbell/Brown and wasting a 1st on Henrique and Jackson finished us off by wasting the 10 million we did have on Arvidsson/Henrique/Skinner instead of locking up our young players and getting a goaltending upgrade.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I hope we lose next game and it's because of our goaltending. Even if these two morons have an average way the rest of the season, there is no way we will get that far if they continue the same play from this season into the playoffs

Signing the Arvidsson/Henrique/Skinner trio has to go down as one of the worst offseasons in Oilers history when you add in that it costed us Holloway/Broberg. 10 million dollars for a trio of players who barely look NHL caliber most of the time. Lazy veterans who are cashing a paycheck and trying to ride the McDrai train to a Cup while contributing nothing. Foegele, McLeod, Holloway, and Broberg had their flaws and inconsistencies but they're so much better than these losers it's not even funny.
yeah, in hindsight, for sure. How can you argue with that? 33, 53, and 19 have all not performed up to their contract/cap number. Then you minus Foegel, Holloway, Broberg, And McLeod and all 4 of them have had good seasons so far, all 4 would, maybe not Broberg, but for sure 3 of them are outperforming their contracts and cap hits so far this year. Not having a GM in place for after they knew Holland was not returning is looking like a major misstep and the team is now paying for it, the only question now is how bad will it cost the Oilers?

will it just be Holloway and Broberg?
will it be an early exit in the playoffs this year?
will it be lack of success again next year?
will it cost us 97, will this prevent him from resigning?

only time will tell, but I am very concerned at this point. I made this point in another thread. How badly was 97 wooed and tried to sold on other markets by his Team Canada teammates at the 4 Nations? Lots of good players, who have won Cups already, and none of them have any ties to the Oilers.

Didn’t you know that Binnington probably has worse numbers on shots taken at a 35 degree angle from the left post by right handed defensemen playing left wing. We can’t take the chance that those numbers don’t explode negatively if we were to bring him in.

Gibson is a similar style of goalie to Binnington and wants to be here. Get it f***ing done enough with the excuses.
I don't think anyone is making excuses except for the sports propagandists trying to keep the fanbase relatively pacified.

I like Gibson too, but only thing that matters is what the Oilers GM thinks of him, and there has already been some noise that the Oilers have looked into acquiring him.

That was only because he had just had a kid. I don't think he'd mind now
Who knows? Could be a kid, or maybe he's another one of those canadian players who has zero interest in playing in Canada.

We tried for Gibson in the summer and we inquired about him before 4 Nations. That should explain that maybe management doesn't fully rely on our goaltending duo

Problem is that Gibson got hurt yesterday. Not sure how bad it is though.
Yeah its sounding more like they took him out for precautionary reasons (maybe due to the deadline)

as other posters have pointed out

we are in a buck in buck out situation with trades
Not the end of the world, we can move out Arvidsson, Henrique and Kane if needed. None have provided anything this year, and only Kane has a 16 team NTC as of next week. We could probably use a 2 for 1 for fwds, we have a log jam of crap. All only have this year and next, which isn't that hard to move to a team building for the future.

Did we for sure try for Gibson a couple times this season? That’s a good sign at least, all the talk about cap at the start of the year made it seem like they had a plan. Lately I’m wondering if they actually have a plan, or maybe they’re trying and deals keep falling through.

We were rumored to be shopping for Andersson and Gibson, idk why they fell through but man those two early in the season would have been huge. Would still be nice to get help, but I don’t get why they wait so long sometimes and leave less time to develop chemistry.

Kane has been out for the entire year--so he sort has a reason. with Kane, he is massive wild card when healthy--he slots right into our top 6 and brings meanness that we have lacked.

With both Arvidsson and Henrique thay are two way players where their results do not reflect on the score sheet. Who replaces them and who takes them?

You might be able to replace a lot of RV's production with a combination of Sav/Skinner/Pod/Kane.

The Oilers need to find a guy that impacts the bottom six in a more noticeable way. RV doesn't do special teams here and the gravy points just aren't coming with all of the Drai opportunity.

We know we have a problem in net. But with both goalies playing shit it is a concern.

But since there are not many goalies out there--The one deal I keep coming back is S Skinner and Henrique to the Ducks for Gibson--but Ducks may ask for a 1st just because

We have 52 bottom six forwards. Arvidsson has very little value too, another team will be doing the Oilers a favor taking that contract off their hands. Arvidsson is on a 13-14 goal pace, that's lower than Klim Kostin level production here while, Kailer Yamamoto may have the same numbers here stapled to Draisaitl, that's not going to be terribly difficult to do without.

This isn't a bottom 6 problem, we have too many bottom 6 forwards (Arvidsson may as well be one at this point) this management needs to man up and do something significant this deadline, another freaking bottom 6 forward isn't moving the needle.

Moving Arvidsson's contract might be the move. No trade protection and a guy that has some value around the league as a two way pest that can produce at a second line rate.
Sure, but that's only if you're lucky, with his health and production, you'll probably have pay to get rid of him or take back a similar player. Feels like a draft move.

Ship his ass off to Anaheim. His family has lived in the LA area before, so it'll be a soft landing spot for them family wise at least.

People liked the Campbell signing too…

Doesn't look like anyone but a few people (Dubas?) knew that Campbell had a drinking/substance abuse problem. Obviously our management can't be counted on to do any due diligence. Making it to the office with the shoe laces tied correctly would seem like about as much as can be expected.
