He saved our season against LA then wasn’t given a chance against the Golden Knights.
Why would we give Campbell a start that Series?

That penalty for playing the puck outside the trapezoid killed us, too.

Whats crazy is that Oilers have added more than dozen wingers for McDavid over the years. None really click. What would be even more crazy is if they added a better top 6 winger for Mcdavid. Play a rotation or mix of Skinner/Savoie/Perry with Drai
This 4 nations tourney is really showing that Nuge is dragging down Mcadvid's play a little bit
Now that's a deep team!
What is this trying to prove?
I personally believe a good top 6 forward is slightly more important than a goalie. I don't support Skinner and would love an upgrade, but goalies are voodoo and you just never know how it turns out.Get us our Gibson NOW
Rantanen is a goalie?
I think he either needs a super elite player like Drai that can process the game the same way, OR guys that keep it simple and aren’t trying to process things faster than they’re capable of.Whats crazy is that Oilers have added more than dozen wingers for McDavid over the years. None really click.
Pretty sure Kane,Hyman, Arvidsson, Skinner were all added for that reason .
Just leave him with any pair letting him do his thing and fix the other 3 lines.
I'm starting to worry about team chemistry. There has been a lot of roster turnover from last year and look to be more turnover coming at the TDL
I feel like once we figure this out we need to keep the line combos the same for a while. There is way too much line shuffling going on that we can't seem to get any chemistry going.
I think it's time to find a way to go back to: Janmark Henrique Brown as a line
Mcdavid I think is on the decline a bit. He peaked a few seasons ago (better win soon)Beyond goaltending which is an obvious problem, I don’t really what else to make of the team.
McDavid been off all year
Our historic PP has had literally no swagger at all this year.
Our PK is terrible.
Our forwards outside of Draisaitl and McDavid can barely piss a drop of offense
Our defense is falling apart lately
I’m not saying you’re wrong about roster turnover because I have no idea what the issues are beyond goaltending. But if roster turnover is actually a problem, I don’t really know what to say. If anything it just feels like the organization, players, coaches etc are all too comfortable. I’d personally like to see more shake up.
Retention on Ranaten should be almost free if they trade him. At this point for a rental the cost for the trading team is almost all about money left. For Rantanen Carolina would be on the hook for about $400K. If they don't want to eat the capspace themselves, the cost to have another team do it would be about a 4th or 5th round pick at most.Part of it is for the retention, but that's fair. I wasn't sure because Rantanen is a major player. I also don't assume he's just rental for this team.
Ok as long we assume a playoff team is giving up cap space for free lolRetention on Ranaten should be almost free if they trade him. Ah ok so you don't know the player well, fair enough. He isnt doing shxx in Edmonton. Hes a Nurse Clone. In fact id say Nurse is now a better defenseman.
We need dynamic puck moving defensemen who dont throw muffins up the middle and are physical.
Good luck.
We had something like a 25% turnover rate from the team that played game 7 of the finals. To me that’s to high and should have been around 15% but the offer sheets forced that. I’m just hoping that some of our veterans are just saving it for the playoffs.I'm starting to worry about team chemistry. Looking at a few options on NHL Edge, Gibson might be the best bet if he can be pried out. Does well on mid range chances and above average on high danger. Still trying to learn the ins and outs of these micro stats and percentages though, so if someone can correct me, please do.
I truly feel we can't run it back with Skinner.
I think it was slot shots that he was weaker on.There was some discussion a couple weeks ago that his weakness matches the Oilers weakness, meaning the Oilers are poor for allowing rush chances, and Gibson is poor at facing rush chances. I think he ranked 28th when someone brought up the stat.
Could be a round peg square hole scenario.
But someone can correct me if I'm wrong as I don't really understand how to access this stuff.
Demko seems like a big risk, they’d really need to have a thorough understanding of his health situation. Hes looked top end when healthy but his body seems fragile and being a UFA and likely looking for a Swayman type deal could be a tough situation. The Oilers should flip Arvidsson and a couple 2nds+ for Demko. The nucks are moving in a new direction and the Oilers can handle the health risk with their level of desperation.
No they absolutely cannot. The Oilers should flip Arvidsson and a couple 2nds+ for Demko. The nucks are moving in a new direction and the Oilers can handle the health risk with their level of desperation.
Yeah but even though we assume the retention, there's no guarantee, plus getting Demko gives you a chance at high end goalie, assuming he can get proper treatment, plus this team is desperate enough to try.Demko seems like a big risk, they’d really need to have a thorough understanding of his health situation. I’d probably rather Gibson than Demko all things considered. Demko will cost you a pretty penny, Gibson comes much cheaper with some retention.
??? I mean why, they're desperate and they know that guy is very good, plus you still have PickardNo they absolutely cannot.
