Rumors Proposals Thread Post Deadline Apocalypse 3rd Times A Charm Stu Stu Stupider Management May the Schwartz be with You

I think if Skinner shits the bed the Oilers will be forced to address the team management in the offseason.
This GM banked on this goaltending duo along with Arvidsson, Skinner, Frederic up front and Bouchard, Stecher, Emberson and Klingberg as RHDs.
They're not going to be addressing team management. It's a brand new management group, they'll get 4 years like every other Oiler's GM under Katz not named Mactavish.

Mactavish probably would have gotten 4 years too, but he worked extra hard to get fired in two.

Ekholm gets no love. He probably makes 1 bad play for every 10 bad plays Bouchard makes

Since about February 1 I don't think that's even been true. His just aren't as glaring.

He's been a lot better since he came back, but he was playing some rancid hockey for a pretty healthy stretch.

Closer to 1 bad play for 20 bad plays. You need to realize BAD PLAYS are not only the ones where the Oil get scored against.

It's the players habits and tendencies. Teams don't target Ekholm but they target Bouchard, particularly in the 3rd.

Keep an eye out for it.

You were expecting a bunch of likes for this post Jimmi? No way Jose.

Bouchard's price came way down, even I was willing to overpay but not anymore.

This season cost him 2M per for 8 years. Down from 11 point something to 9 point something.
No, you're just like being a putz for reason I can't figure out. I guess good luck running the best defenseman on the team out of town, it always goes well.

I mean you're inventing things, but that sort seems like your imo right now. A bit of spiral happening.

I mean no, he's the best defenseman on the team by a significant chunk, you pay that guy more than Nurse for being better than Nurse.
'I mean no", JJ what are you talking about? A significant chunk or what? And just because one is overpaid you don't make another mistake in overpaying more. All you have to make a point is his points and he has a hard shot,. His points are propped up, unless you really think he goes to Utah and puts the same points. His shot is not accurate but its hard. He doesn't defend at an elite level. But yeah a significant of what??

Playoffs doesn't start until another month. Lots of time for recovery and practice games.
For sure, just my worry when he says he'll be "longer" because I worry how long that is, though Leon being back and Frederic skating with the team (Plus Kane's positive steps) are good to see.

The open ended way it's presented makes me worried lol.

Part of me wonders if the McDavid injury is just a Trojan horse to rest him more.

I think he's definitely injured, but I also think he could be back anytime really, but they just aren't so he's fresh. I feel like he's been some combination of fatigued or injured the whole season which has reflected in his uneven play. The less fatigued or injured he is the better, even if it meant parking him for the rest of the year.

Our critical players being fresh and healthy is significantly more meaningful than home ice at this point. It's just unfortunate that we basically chose to throw away security in the home ice position with what the group chose to do in February.

You might be right, I think he's been hurt all year honestly, maybe this is the rest he really needs because it's become too much, and the pressure gets put on the group to pick up the slack. It should make them a better team if they can manage it.
