Our management have yet to do anything approaching the stupidity of dealing away scoring players with basically only futures in return as they are trying to purportedly win.
Yes a basically rookie GM has made a fairly critical mistake -- give you that. However our management has made frightenly obvious mistakes for so long its quite awful.
Poor at drafting, poor at trading, overpaying players causing cap problems, management of players that are here, not planning for the future (goaltending right now and in the future sucks on our team), ....sure Carolina is guilty of some of this too.
And oh yes our owner has hired some really quality POHO and GMs---lololololol!

We are not one of the better managed teams and you are the pot trying to call the kettle black. Imagine our team today without the lottery ball luck we have had.

This team is so unbelievably f***ed without McDavid and Draisaitl it isn't even funny. This pathetically incompetent management core owes them so many apologies for wasting away their peak seasons, and should be kissing the ground they walk on.

I'm not sure how you would view moving him for trade capital as 'short-sighted' when the premise is extending the team's realistic Cup window by adding a prime elite forward and adding trade capital.

With the growing salary cap, I'm not confident that filling those roles is going to be as cheap as you'd expect because there's a good chance that future AAVs rise along with the cap. If Ekholm is still performing at a high level, his contract will undoubtedly reflect that. And odds are that Walman earns a sizeable raise.

And more importantly, we're focusing on '25-'26, where the Oilers have a little less than $15m in cap flexibility to get Bouchard and Emberson extended along with a half dozen other roster players. How are we consistently getting better if the plan is paring the roster down?
I like Emberson fine, but I'm not convinced he deserves much more than league minimum in salary. Plays very limited minutes and contributes no offense.

I guess you elect to pay a bit more for youth/potential if you believe he has it (like Holloway and Broberg).
Or you avoid overpaying for a replaceable part (Desharnais).

Oh look, Ekblad gets to rest before the playoffs, with a two-game slap on the wrist for the first round.

Feels like its was timed for Florida to bolster their RD before the deadline. Also feels like it was timed so he gets a slight penalty for playoffs but not enough to impact Florida too much.

Meanwhile the league prorates Lucic. Ottawa loses first because Vegas’s feelings got hurt that Dadonov had a nmc. Pinto loses half a year because of gambling meanwhile gambling ads everywhere and league management keeps some games close. League is crooked.

You're the only one that made the connection between me criticizing the Hurricanes management and ownership and the Oilers. I'm sorry your boyfriend(s) in ownership and management tossed the season with a comically dumb sequence of trades (including the admission that they couldn't do anything else because they spent too much time on Rantanen) and that has your panties twisted, but it doesn't have anything to do with the Oilers no matter how much you want it to be.

Bisonnette just said that Dahlin met with Kevyn Adams and said if this doesn't get turned around quick, I am gone.

Dahlin on the Oilers would be amazing. Do whatever it takes to get that done.

I’m one of those people that’s kind of insane about honesty. I’d probably lie in that situation out of respect for the fans and my teammates, he’s their captain. Imagine acknowledging it publicly and you don’t get traded? Just deny it.

No kidding.

Even if it were dead true he's not going to come out and say "yep I want out" publicly otherwise he would have just said it publicly to begin with.

I disagree there. He could deny the report or just say nothing. That's happened before. He seemed fairly adamant that there wasn't anything to it

Pissed away 3PPs against lowly Sabers. McD is hardly a plus player 5on5. I don't think he can demand anyone's apologies.

Its very clear this is a guy the analytics and scouting team targeted and coveted for awhile.
Just don't pair him with Bouchard again and we are good.

What can't you understand? Everything is relative ...especially when it comes to trading and trade deadlines. Also how much time on deadline day did Stan the man spend on Rantenan -- probably it kept him from looking elsewhere with much depth also.
Try to keep your arguing without hurling personal insults. It makes you look weak and questions your ability to reason without it. If you must resort to it perhaps we should move it along to the next level.

Can't follow along, not coherent.

Bobs stamp of approval. Walman isn’t leaving for a long time

Yup. Still fairly young for a D, probably get another 4-5 good seasons out of him, if not more. Seems to like it here already, a bit of a connection with core guys like McDavid and Hyman, etc.

If Frederic pans out and signs long term, pretty savvy trades with minimal capital going out. The biggest issue, of course, is the lack of goaltending reinforcement
