Thing is that person tends to f*** around with his tweets, so I don't think he's being serious.
yep. he's taking a shot at Matty who said Jesse is not a top 6 winger if Hyman were to switch sides and the anti-jesse part of the fanbase

Joe Murphy, Penner (whoops) Maroon etc. Good players are good players. Doesn't much matter what any of us state. Virtanen adds to our assets, and we're doing that as simple as a PTO. Its what anybody should want as an Oilers fan.
I completely agree

Meh. We’ve seen enough North American players go over and struggle to adjust that I don’t put much stock in a 36 game stretch
And the previous year he had 5 points. He is an out of shape shit player. Sure bring him in on a PTO, but if they want to sign him? There are much better options out there, even for a PTO

But you used an 18-19 sample of an injured Pulju to demonstrate that. You used seasons that were not even the same seasons in the comparison. You ignored all that feedback in your reply.

To me its not convincing. Why would you use 18-19 sample to bring Pulju stats down when his last two full seasons and playoffs he's shown ample improvements?

Keep in mind I don't put stock in +/- alone. I also look at GA, I look at what the player does on the ice. I iso constantly in games and rewatch moments in games several times to quantify what occurred. I don't watch hockey like most people would. I'm constantly jumping on replay and if I don't get the sequence right first time, I look at until I understand what occurred in a play. Without which you don't know. The more you watch replays the more you note the quieter contributions of players and how they are progressing in an area. For instance last two seasons Pulju and RNH have got better at loose pucks, getting sticks in lanes and compete level getting pucks out. In real time play, in the fastest sport on ice, you don't see all the context unless you break down the plays. Like teams do in the video room. I love watching games that way. breaking it down. I would find it so frustrating if I could only watch games with no replay. Indeed I did find that frustrating before VCR's first allowed the end user to replay anything they wanted to replay. It makes watching the game so much different.

In short Pulju passes that sniff test.
I'm using the entire sample size, their career. We're talking exclusively real goal scored vs. real goals against and over their careers, Pulju is a +18 while Yamamoto is a +17. Anybody can pick out sample sizes to favor one player over the other but the reality is that their +/- is pretty much equal over their careers as an Edmonton Oiler. That's just the facts.

I can appreciate what you see with your eye test and it's entirely fair to base your opinion on that but somebody else might see Yamamoto and see a player that passes the eye test for them so it becomes subjective when you look at it that way.
The reality is that neither has been able to nail down a top 6 role in this league based on merit. They've both have long stints in the top 6 on this team because, quite frankly, the Oilers haven't had any real competition for those spots in their time here.
As I said before, I don't see a big difference between the players. I see middle 6 wingers with different strengths and weaknesses that are expendable.

Matty is so out of touch with reality that he had to use Kurri in the 80's as an argument against Puljujarvi the other day. If there's one Oiler media member who's as stupid as Mark Spector, it's definitely Matty.

Team still needs a jolt of improvement or atleast more potential for. Losing out on Kessel was missed opportunity. Get Virtanen signed and let’s see if we can get a player out of it.

When you use entire career sample its possible also that it creates noise in that it ignores any improvement in said players which is what one wants to have. Pulju has made steady improvement season to season and each being better than the last. You're responding to that with. inclusion of past sample where the player was struggling AND playing injured. A young player too.

What any fan should want is a player showing progress. Pulju is getting better every season. That is positive.

You had to know I'm very partial to Maroon in the equation. I loved his contribution here and he was as close to an ideal scoring 3rd as it gets. But alas he went other ways and we don't have his services. But Maroon two didn't have the constantly good hands. He would miss a lot of good feeds two but got a lot of them. Still, he was better than either Pulju or Yama and brought other aspects. But one aspect is the size domination on pucks, which Pulju also brings. Iso on Pulju next season. Watch him all over the ice. see all the quiet battles, all the times he engages, all the times he is in reasonable position to be in on plays. He's good enough to generally know where to be and his wingspan does the rest. Its rarely pretty with Pulju but he does a lot well. If he had Laine or Kane mitts he'd be making 6M.
100%. Big Rig was fun to watch, and I WISH Jesse could do what he did. He might still, but I just don't know if it will be here.

Virtanen was abysmal his last 2 hockey seasons. He was 9th in his KHL team in scoring. Dude flat out sucks.
Kane sucked in the KHL too.

12 WHOLE GAMES in a season where the NHL was in a lockout where players have openly said while they played in other league--they played to make sure they did not get injured

Agreed. I hope the Oilers keep him but I doubt he's long for here unfortunately.

The other stuff, I don't know what else to say that I haven't already. We'll just agree to disagree that they're similar level players which is all I'm really saying.

Kane was what, 20 years old in a lockout season where he was trying not to get hurt?
Virtanen couldn’t find an NHL job and struggled in the KHL at 26. Huge difference.

That just isn't in JP's nature. I wish he did too and every hockey player. Don't be afraid to separate a player from the puck. Doesn't have to be a big hit. I can't stand when players just stop up.

Don't know if it's been talked about yet but oilers confirmed today that the subscription service launches this season
