That's what I've been saying, no way can the Oilers move that full contract without taking on some pain so to turn Nurse into a somewhat positive asset they'll have to retain. For 3m retention it better be something really good because 3m dead cap for the next 4 years is quite a price to pay.
Might as well keep him because Nurse is worth $6M

Gregor doesn't even know the word "bully". He's been a 'bully' to anyone who disagrees with his opinion. So what does that make him? I can't stand him. I hope he get's put in his place.
I don't mind him. Probably because I dont live in Edmonton and enjoy hearing about the Oilers when I listen to his show.

One poster compared him to a barking dog. I thought that was pretty spot on.

I like his segment with Spec.

Well, if the Oilers are keeping Nurse it won't be Nurse at $6m, it would be Nurse at $9.25m. That's the issue, he's a negative asset at $9.25m and the Oilers have precious few assets as is so they can't afford to attach any to rid of the full contract and fill holes elsewhere so getting it down to $6m would probably give him some value but I can't imagine enough value to bring back anything worth the retention.

Prepare to be amazed at what Bowman does with the Nurse trade and not in a good way
At some point they have to consider basically just giving him away if that’s what it takes for no retention. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot trying to overthink it and end up making things worse. A clean break and 9.25m is better than taking on some bad contract or retaining (depends on the return of course).

The GM we couldn't "squeeze" to retain on the Keith deal all of a sudden starts getting squeezed when he becomes our GM. You can't make this up.

With the Broberg/Holloway offersheets, Carolina driving up Bouchards contract, Vegas denying us Cassidy, Dubas refusing to do a sign and trade for Hyman it seriously seems like GMs are out to get us. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Some of this is Katz needing to go into Bettman's office and remind him who's helping to drive the record revenues

I don't know if there's a prize for "Greatest use of AI on an Internet Sports Forum", but I think this would take it.
I still laugh at the smug smirk at the end. I have to be honest, I'm starting to look forward to him coaching this team. We need a little troublemaker. Now, if we could build a team like the Broad Street Bullies, that would be great!

You can see already that Bowman is going to F this up starting with the whole coaching fiasco, the rumors of retaining significantly on Nurse in a "hockey trade", this distressed asset idea, most likely re-signing Murphy and Dickinson to bloated deals. Hard to feel confident after two botched summers in a row and the constant pissing away of assets.

That is different than what Friedman is hearing. It hilarious how low we value our assets. There is no way, in a rising cap world, that you need to retain 3M to move a minute munching top 4 d man.
