It's not circumventing the cap, NHL is fine with it. They've openly told the GMs to go ahead. It is his fault he won't engage in circumventing the cap?
Kane isn't ready to play anyways, he's not even practicing with the team yet.

He enjoyed his summer and got surgery at the end of it. Spare me it’s not at all his fault. Would have been a non issue.
Keep this same energy when he comes back early. It’s going to be ugly.
"I don't envision the Oilers being this tight to the cap next year"
isn't that why they didn't match the offer sheets??? to accrue space during the year??

I can't believe the pitchforks are out for Kane. An easy target for the relentless. Bro wants to play. It is not his fault management f***ed up the cap. The nerds in the cap and analytics department are to blame. Kane is not at fault.
No, it’s his fault in delaying his medical procedures. It’s his fault for not opting for surgery last season when he knew he was hurt. Now, the team wants hi. At 100% health for the playoffs- and he wants to rush back early again so he does t lose his spot on the roster. It is his fault he won't engage in circumventing the cap?
Kinda agree. We all rag on Stone for his shenanigans, then when we have a guy that's top prideful for that crap, we rag on him too.I can't believe the pitchforks are out for Kane. He absolutely does. You think the NHL decides? If you think he has any influence over when his operations were scheduled you have no idea how the NHL works
LOL so he can’t sit out until the f***ing playoffs? f*** off to Kane if he doesn’t decide to take a hit for the teamI can't believe the pitchforks are out for Kane. An easy target for the relentless. Nope.He would have returned by now had he opted for surgery following the end of the playoffs. Wouldn't have that affected the "accrued cap space?"

Your anger should be with management. Kane didn't handcuff this team.LOL so he can’t sit out until the f***ing playoffs? f*** off to Kane if he doesn’t decide to take a hit for the team
Just to be clear, this isn't remotely true. No, it’s his fault in delaying his medical procedures. It’s his fault for not opting for surgery last season when he knew he was hurt. Now, the team wants hi. At 100% health for the playoffs- and he wants to rush back early again so he does t lose his spot on the roster.
I can be upset with both.Your anger should be with management. Kane didn't handcuff this team.
So he should commit fraud if he can truly be ready to play before seasons end? I hate it as much as anyone but, I don’t think you ask a player to be deceitful like that. That’s just shitty leadership if so.LOL so he can’t sit out until the f***ing playoffs? f*** off to Kane if he doesn’t decide to take a hit for the team
yes, yes he does.If you think he has any influence over when his operations were scheduled you have no idea how the NHL works
Yeah, I don't think Kane is worried about losing his spot to combined 15 goals Podkolzin/Janmark/Arvidsson or weekly scratch Skinner.Just to be clear, this isn't remotely true.
It's just people going bonkers because Seravelli said he was a "wild card".
That's fineI don't believe you.
Well, Vegas and Tampa have been doing this for years or it was just a massive coincidence that Stone and Kucherov were miraculously ready for Game 1 of the playoffs. Now watch Tkachuk be miraculously back for Game 1 of the playoffs while Florida loads up for another Cup run Of course when it comes to the Oilers though? It's complicated, only them and easy peasy for everybody else.So he should commit fraud if he can truly be ready to play before seasons end? Like I said in other threads, the NHLPA would be all over this on Kane’s behalf, of so.
What does any of that have to do with what I asked? If those players were in that situation and agreed, they are complicit in furthering the deceit and circumvention.Well, Vegas and Tampa have been doing this for years or it was just a massive coincidence that Stone and Kucherov were miraculously ready for Game 1 of the playoffs. Even with everyone unsigned. They were already a good team. They were the Cup finalist. Roll it back as much as you can and see who's left at the end of the summer who's willing to sign on the cheap. It's not a bad strategy. It was stupid. I know people point out “the fan base was excited” but they miss out a huge part of that- the fan base assumed management would sign Holloway and Broberg. They didn’t which makes the signing of Skinner and Arvy look terrible. If you asked fans on June 30th, who would you rather have Holloway and Broberg or Skinner and Arvy- 10/10 would have chosen the former
I find it difficult to believe that a player lying about an injury - so his team can accrue space - is not circumventing the cap. That's fine
It was back during the GM meetings on 2020 or 2021 though. Holland got a contingent of GMs together to complain about the LTIR loophole, especially in the case of Tbay where Kucharov practiced for two months while on the LTIR, and the NHL shut it down and told them as far as they were concerned, it was legal.
Asking Kane to wait a couple of weeks to get up to speed before the playoffs is far less egregious than some other examples of teams using the LTIR loophole.
You’re not wrong.That's fine

100%. Bring your team back intact- then add. None of the players were asking for major dollars- Foegele got a slight bump. Holloway was rumoured at 1.5 and Broberg’s was 1.8. Take care of your own first.Even with everyone unsigned. They were already a good team. They were the Cup finalist. I don't even hate the Henrique contract in all honesty. It was deserved. As were the Janmark and Brown extensions.
I think we should be out of the big fish market on July 1st though. We're a year late, but that cap flexibility is just too valuable.
