If we’re looking for a forward at the deadline, I would be quite interested in Zegras. He’s had a rough couple of years in Anaheim and might need a change of scenery. This is a player who has shown to be an ultra competitor in the past and gives me Tkachuk vibes (you hate his guts if he’s on the other team but love him on your own team)

He’s not though. Maybe cocky a bit when he came in. He’s a one dimensional finesse player who hasn’t been able to produce offense consistently.

He was producing pretty consistently in his first 2 seasons in the league, with not much around him to boot. Was just thinking he could be a fairly decent buy low player who could potentially figure things out on a more competitive team.

I’ve seen a lot of crazy things said on this website but saying Zegras gives you Tkachuk vibes is up there. They couldn’t be more polar opposites.

He just got suspended for a blatant headshot, so maybe a bit of recency bias going on with that take

Zegres is supposedly disliked around the NHL, but sounds like it's more that he's a relentless show-boater and incredibly juvenile person that other NHLers find off-putting, rather than an abrasive on ice presence.

I saw some posters earlier complaining about how we let McLeod go and signed Henrique.

Just wanted to remind them that we got Matt Savoie in tbe deal back who is on his ELC and the an RFA after. McLeod is gonna get paid this summer as he has arbitration rights.

Also McLeod 5v5 has played 705 minutes and has 36 GF and 31 GA for a 53.73 GF%. His xGF is 26.5, almost 10 higher than what was expected so he's been getting lucky. He has a 47.06 HDGF% with 16HDGF and 18HDGA.

Henrique on the other hand has played 690 minutes 5v5 and has 23 GF and 20 GA for a 53.49 GF%. Henriques HDGF is 14HDGF and 11 HDCA for a 56HDGF%.

My point is that even though McLeod is putting up offensive numbers, his defensive numbers have taken a hit. Henrique has been the better defensive player. Add in that the Oilers get Savoie and it's a no brainer.

He reminds me alot of Mike Smith (the good and the bad). But when he is dialed in, he his lights out. But acquiring him would be hard, but I feel St.Louis owes us.

His puck moving would be huge. The oilers give up few high danger chances and like to move the puck up the middle, Biddington would be a huge help in that.

I’m guessing Schwartz is involved in this decision and that’s why you are hearing “no one is an upgrade on Skinner”. That guy should be no where around goalie discussions. Woody listened to him when he said leave Skinner in against Vegas, Holland listened to him on Campbell. Guy sucks

We are only talking about a few thousand though. That is hardly a compensation for losing a potential $5M add at some point in the playoffs. There are only two reasons to move Kane. One is that he will be back sometime before the season ends and the space is needed to make a deal now. The second is that you expect the market for him would be better today than it would be in the off season. Frankly, I don't see how the latter would be true.

You can't request an extension after the trade deadline, unfortunately. It'll be a maximum of 3 games, or more likely 2.

That's the only good thing I could say about Chiarelli's time here. They at least drafted better.
5 years under Holland, and not one single prospect outside of Broberg/Holloway have made any sort of impact. Just abysmal drafting by Wright.

The Oilers haven't taken drafting/development seriously in about 3 decades. Hate to harp on the issue but imagine this team with Ratchuk instead of JP....

Id trade for a goalie for the sake of making a change. The goalie duo we have is definitely not it. Even if Gibson is a lateral move at least we tried something. But I think he'd be pretty pumped to play for a contender.

I mentioned this last year. The Oilers had to give up a first because they were "holding" Rico while they tried to get the Buchnevich deal done. When they couldn't they had to circle back to Henrique.

You are not wrong, but when you let Mcleod go then you better go get some more speed. Instead? They lost more speed with Foegele and Holloway leaving.........

They can do some damage repair this deadline, but will they?????

I think JP was consensus #1 a good year/ year and a half before his draft year? Or at least a 1/2 with Matthews

I do believe the Oilers thought they were drafting Matthew Tkachuk. They told him so the night before the draft, until the Finish manager in CBJ pulled a fast one and didn't draft JP

The red flags should've immediately gone up when the Finnish GM passed on him. Who knows if Tkachuk would've stayed here but at least we likely would've gotten something useful for him.

Man that was such a coup by Zito. What a fantastic GM.
