A Beatles parody:
“We need a goalie (Help)
Not just any goalie (Help)
Does Bow know we need some goalie help?”

And here we are, the Oilers in a 5-game losing streak where they’ve looked like dogshit in every game and both goalies not getting the job done all season.

7 days to the deadline, Bowman’s first trade deadline as Oilers GM, let’s see if he has the balls to make some big roster moves to right the ship heading into the last 5 weeks of the season.

I wouldn't mind seeing a ham sandwich in net for a game.

Otherwise I actually don't expect the Oilers to be busy this trade deadline week, even though they should be.

Realistically what do the Oilers have in terms of assets to make significant additions at the deadline?

Here's the picks:

So they actually have a reasonable amount of capital if they wanted to take some big swings. I definitely see enough there to move off of Henrique and Arvidsson if they wanted to, while still leaving a couple of firsts and a good amount of 2nds and 3rds to bring in replacements.

And St. Louis 2nd

In the off season (no matter how the season turns out), here is a statistic for the team to consider:

If you exclude the 5 guys up front that I would keep (yeh, bias for sure): Mc-D, Drai, Hyman, Savoie and Podz (someone has to fight) then the average age for the remaining forwards is right around 34 years of age. That is a fact that must be addressed. No matter how you slice it, that's an old group of forwards.

Have we traded for a new goalie and fire fraud ass Dustin Schwartz yet? Make a f***ing move. Why wait until deadline.
Because they don't know if they'll have cap space yet lol, a week from the deadline and Bowman who is this seasoned GM that's been around the game for decades has no freaking idea if he'll have the cap available to make a move after an entire offseason based on the idea of accruing cap space of which they stopped the moment they signed Klingberg after they picked up Kapanen and are now handcuffed a week before the deadline because they don't know if Kane, who they knew for months had a surgery, is going to return or not. Yep, this is happening believe it or not.

Essentially, there's a very real possibility that Klingberg, Kapanen and a very watered down version of what used to be Evander Kane are their deadline additions.

I'm not sure this is entirely true, even with no cap space they have the picks to make moves for some cheaper players, sending back the same salary. Even if it means sending a roster player back, it's not like many of those guys have term.

The bare minimum is changing up the mix up front.

Lack of foresight is the true mark of an Oilers GM.

The complete moron that thought $6M/year was too much for a young, improving top 4 defenseman and a top 6 forward with upside is now going to ignore goaltending and shuffle deck chairs. Katz has made 3 of the worst GM picks fathomable, in a row. Sell the team you idiot.

I think that’s our only 2nd. Our 2nd this year belongs to Utah for taking the Kassian contract.

For a year that our management decided to accrue cap space we don’t really have much draft capital to spend. Just go get a goalie and this team should be a contender.

I voted Bottom 6 Fwd since it is worded 'what does Bowman do', but what I hope he does is get a friggen goalie...

I think you're gonna have to give Anaheim what they want for Gibson, though their bargaining position may have taken a little hit with his apparently minor injury, so that might help us as a buyer.

It's either that or Binnington with Skinner going out entirely to St. Louis.

Maybe Saros or gulp Sorokin (are the Islanders willing to make a move? This deal would almost definitely have to involve Bouchard for Dobson on top of that).

There's no way you can continue with this tandem, all other things aside I think the team is giving up on them because they don't get enough big saves and once you lose buy in and belief the rest of the wheels start falling off fast.

Skinner needed to have a really good season cementing himself as a bonafied starter who can come up with some big time saves and win a game here or there for the team after last season's experience, he has failed. His numbers against top teams is atrocious, the team can't have any confidence in a playoff round against any of the better teams.

I kinda hope the resolution to the Kane situation isn't just him being traded when his NMC turns into a 16 team list. Ideally, LTIR until playoffs. Who knows how effective he will be, but I'd rather gamble on Kane, than Arvidsson remembering he is a hockey player and not out there to make snow angels.

I'd rather move both of them in separate deals. That cap space opens a lot of opportunity to get younger and faster.

I don't think that Kane's style of game compliments the system that Knoblauch is trying to execute.

Sam o Reilly, Savoie, Akey, The Russian kid

They have moveable prospects also. Our assets aren't dire, but our future pipeline is if that makes sense.

This losing streak may be a blessing in disguise TBH

It sounds like the pressure is on for bigger changes now.

Losing a first for Adam Henrique is pure negligence.
