The people that are saying that the team knows aren't reliable. All of the actual insiders and industry experts are saying that Kane wants to play reg season games and is keeping his status a mystery and holding up the team's ability to do anything at the TDL, and there is huge concern within the organization because they don't know wtf is going on. Which is why, now, the team is also starting to do its due diligence around potentially trading him.
With that said, Kane was automatically obligated to submit his 16 trade list on Mar 1, as his full nmc ran out. So I do believe that's being oversensationalized.
The team has to explore all options at this point, as if he decides to play regular season games, his contract would need to be moved to do another big deal as we are stuck to dollar in dollar out otherwise.
