Agreed. Rishaug keeps saying the Oilers are scared to death of what would happen if Kane wakes up one day and decides he's good enough to play.

1. If team doctors say he's not 100%, it doesn't matter what Kane wants to do.

2. It's possible someone else is injured and could be put on LTIR.

3. Kane has to be a real POS knowing that coming back means that they have waive his teammates.

Go and spend the money.

Doctor's clearing is one aspect. He also has to pass a physical which there is no way he can do. Dude hasn't lifted a weight since last year. Rishaug is losing his mind because he went out for a casual skate

So Kane wants to be back for like the last 8-10 games to prove he can play in the playoffs but that’s only a month away. I can respect that but there’s zero chance he’s remotely close by then.

It would just lead to him being gassed, sore and out of sync with the team and ending up in the press box or on the 4th line. Which probably leads to more issues.

He needs to take his time and get 100% or he will just be a liability.

The people that are saying that the team knows aren't reliable. All of the actual insiders and industry experts are saying that Kane wants to play reg season games and is keeping his status a mystery and holding up the team's ability to do anything at the TDL, and there is huge concern within the organization because they don't know wtf is going on. Which is why, now, the team is also starting to do its due diligence around potentially trading him.

With that said, Kane was automatically obligated to submit his 16 trade list on Mar 1, as his full nmc ran out. So I do believe that's being oversensationalized.

The team has to explore all options at this point, as if he decides to play regular season games, his contract would need to be moved to do another big deal as we are stuck to dollar in dollar out otherwise.

Chicago moved a good overpaid defender who wanted to leave with a lot of retention to a team who wanted him. Not something we could have done with Nurse.

This is the reason Edmonton will not win for the foreseeable future. Not being a Debbie Downer.
