Thoughts on landing MA Fleury as per Friedman? His stats aren't great (sub .900 S%), but I feel that's an upgrade over Pickard, assuming we're leaving Campbell down in the AHL.
I think he would be a great mentor to Skinner. Depends on the cost ultimately. Wonder if we would run 3 goalies. Pickard might get claimed.

I don't get why people post opinion tweets as if they have any weight. It has the same weight as anyone posting their own proposals on hf

I feel like a MAF plus Maroon deal is a Holland type add. I can see it getting done without a 1st or Broberg.

May be something like Pickard + 2024 2nd + Bourgault for MAF + Maroon + 2024 4th

May have to add some salary going out or some retention on MAF

I'm petty and don't want Flower on this team. When he was traded to Minny in '22, he made it abundantly clear via multiple media sources that he had absolutely no interest or desire to play in Edmonton, and that wasnt the first time he nixed a trade to Oil country

Now the team in the thick of its prime, humbled through the experiences of multiple playoff disappointments and finally looked championship calibre seasoned with a real 200 foot complete game. This took several years of brewing and development as a team. Now he wants to join? He may still be a top tier goaltender on some nights, but my allegiance is to Calvin Pickard this season. He deserves to be on that bench as a backup come April. He earned it

And i'm definitely not on the trade Ceci train. Imo, he's a vital asset, that really protects Darnell Nurse's bad habits, and a reliable defender on a nightly basis. Both Woody and Knobs have rarely if ever taken him out of the top 4 if ever. And he's put in years of work into this evolved product, he deserves to see it through. We forget these are people, that form bonds and relationships with the team, organization and city. They're not just dispensable chess pieces.

People talk about bringing in Perry might churn the team chemistry in the wrong direction; when its not adding players that would disrupt the team's swagger, its taking long time teammates out of the group

I like the team the way it is. Everyone, including the 13th/14th forward, i wanna each and every one of them in the playoffs

The Oilers cannot afford to go through another post season having Ceci on the top four whatsoever.

Standing pat without any sort of moves is just asking for a failure at going for a deep playoff run. Team still needs a Top 6 scoring winger and a top four RHD.

Eh

I don’t know what his value is but based on his season, it should be like a third.

Pretty sure you can cross Walker off the list now.

Sergachev is likely out long term now so I expect Tampa to move mountains for Walker.

Unless they decide to go for Hanifin instead. Then that leaves us with Walker.

I think it's fair to say they'll be in on Tanev too.

I'm just failing to see what kind of mountains they can move - they have their 2026 picks, and a 2025 2nd I suppose.

I think Hanifin makes much more sense for them at this time - their right side with Cernak, Raddysh and Perbix may be totally fine, but their left side after Hedman is...Calvin de Haan? Ugly.

The one thing that is of concern I suppose is Walker has played left D before - but generally in such few doses that throwing a 1st rounder on him would be a bit careless for them specifically.

You keep posting this and it keeps being grossly out of whack as far as value

MAF and maroon probably don't cost a 2nd together

Also this might be the original post lol

What I thought Ceci was playing fine and the "13 mins" 3rd pair was just being sheltered or something

A guy I wonder about how he would fit is Anthony Mantha. Big bodied goal scorer who can skate. He was tracking well with a couple 20 goal seasons early in his career but Washington has been a train wreck for him, scoring has completely dried up but underlying numbers are decent.

Washington apparently is ready to give him away, I wonder if you could get him 50% retained for a late pick and then pay another team another late pick to keep another 50%. His cap hit at the deadline would be almost nothing and if he fits and finds his confidence in the top six here it could be an absolute home run and there’s a possibility you could re-sign him cheap on a year or two deal. Even in the summer I’d look st him as a reclaim, offer him a dirt cheap one or two year deal to see if he can fit next to 97 or 29.
gross

Hows Henriques skating?

At this point it feels like Draisaitl needs someone who can skate and push the pace on his line.

If we did bring in a 3C, it would allow McLeod to move up I guess.
Put Draisaitl with Mcdavid or get him some damn speed on his line! great post!

You were doing great until you started to convince us that Ceci is a vital asset. Both the eye test and fancy stats prove you incredibly wrong. Nurse actually plays better WITHOUT Ceci.

Without term thats too rich.
Being someone who's bullish on gettting Guentzel, yes absolutely. That's too much.

After seeing that Vegas game, it's even more clear to me that we need to add a sniper. Hill and the Knights could very well end up beating us again and we need to arm ourselves to lessen the odds of that happening.

I guess if Guentzel ends up costing too much Eberle would be a decent back up option. Or Tarasenko maybe? I agree with quite a few here that we need to wait till the deadline for the prices to lower.

Sergachev and Walker play different position. I think Tampa goes for Chychrun

Yes, I said yesterday that we still need a top 6 player (move out Foegle who has been a good soldier) and a mid level defenceman to push Ceci, Kulak down the lineup.

Tarasenko is intriguing to me, I wanted him 2 years ago when there was noise about him, but he’s proven to be a but mercurial and I don’t know if he would move the needle now. I lean more towards Adam Henrique. If not, how about Casey Middlestadt out of Buffalo?

It’s a stretch that GMKH will be able to deliver both of these but I am hopeful. This season is it, for all the reasons we know.

What?! He absolutely does not protect Nurse. It’s the other way around. When Nurse struggles it’s when he is over-compensating for Ceci’s blunders. He is literally one of the worst defenseman in the league for zone denials, zone exits, puck retrievals. Nurse’s numbers (looking at last year since this year they have rarely been apart) he is significantly better away from Ceci.
