Sports isn't about winning.
Believe it or not, it's about revenue.

Revenue is achieved through branding and marketing more than on-ice results.

Hiring an alleged rapist is absolutely f***ing ATROCIOUS for branding and marketing. It's a literal nightmare. You can only hope a team in a market that doesn't know anything about hockey gets him, so he can duck and cover and play without the scrutiny.

Bill Cosby is now deemed "innocent" in accordance with a court of law. He is out of jail.
Try casting him in a movie and seeing how well the movie does.

You can scream all you want about comedic chops, or his acting ability, the problem is Bill Cosby is going to tank your movie no matter how good the movie might be.
Yep I understand all of that and agree.

I’m not up to speed on the Cosby case. Thought he was found guilty? That’s messed up.

How hard would it have been for him to add “my mistake, deadline is tomorrow” instead of pretending like that’s just a continuation of his earlier tweet.
Seems that isn’t his first time trying to pull that kind of move instead of saying he was wrong or didn’t know.

Even without the rape any Bill Cosby movie made in the last 30 years would have flopped.

Well to be clear Cosby admitted he drugged the women. The issue was that he had an agreement with the previous DA that the one who prosecuted ignored. That’s why his conviction was overturned.

But this is not the place for that conversation.

This is false, he got off with a technicality......he admitted guilt, just another reason many women won't come forward, especially if the person is rich and powerful.

My understanding is that he admitted guilt in a money trail, but only if it couldnt be used in any criminal trial.

Then the prosecutor used it anyways.

And of course they are different things. If you want something to go away writing a statement to get it to go away for some money is alot different then admitting guilt when you are going to jail.

You posted a single case from 1997, you need way more data to prove you statement..if it is clear post proof? it happens but it is a very small portion of actual cases.

I posted that one because it was Vancouver and athletic. Not sure what you are arguing. Of course public accusations are the tip of the iceberg. Nobody disputes that. But there are also lots of false accusations. Go talk to any divorce lawyer to understand how shitty people can be through greed or malice. Either he ruined her life (more likely) or she ruined his (less likely but still possible). Don't want Vittanen and let the courts sort out the sordid affair. Keep the whole thing far away from the Oilers.

Basically the original prosecutor said they wouldn't prosecute him, the next one did, they appealed and the judge pretty much agreed that because they originally told him they wouldn't prosecute it shouldn't of been allowed.

The "justice" system is anything but.

Cosby was out in a matter of hours but guys who are falsely proven in jail, literally proven innocent years later still take months to years to actually get out of jail.

Burn the rich lol

Vegas is reportedly close to re-signing Martinez at $5M+. That puts them at the cap with 20 players signed. Toronto has $9M in cap space with 17 contracts and according to the media is in on every UFA. Tampa has $750K in cap sapce with 17 players signed. Any bargains to be had??

he is guilty lol..come on, 60 women who never knew each other are not in on a conspiracy...if you are innocent you would not admit guilt period. He is out because he was rich...a random dude would not get offered that deal in the first place.

They convicted him based on evidence that wasn't allowed to be used in the trial, so the verdict was thrown out.

That's not even counting the severe inconsistencies in primary victim's story, the judge presiding over the case running a political campaign on promising to prosecute Cosby, or the entire dog and pony show kicked off by Janice Dickenson who ended up getting caught lying to sell her biography.

Cosby was essentially found guilty on a case built mostly on inadmissible evidence. The appeal that overturned his conviction was the correct legal decision.

Of course, the inadmissible evidence in question was a personal confession of guilt, so make of that as you will.

The bolded is absolute bullshit. The amount of people who get convinced to admit guilt and please guilty to avoid worse changes just to clear up shit in courts is disgusting
You are talking about co-erced confession....cosby's was not coerced, with his money and power he would never admit guilt..it was 60 women dude come on. This is why many women won't come forward.

I'm not disagreeing about Cosby. I'm disagreeing with that one point you made. People confess to shit they didn't so all the time in trials.
