My form isn’t projecting at all… I haven’t given my opinion at all.

I asked a simple question which deflected with whataboutisms and attempts to paint me as a bad person.

should a person be treated as guilty until proven innocent?

Simple question.

Sports isn't about winning.
Believe it or not, it's about revenue.

Revenue is achieved through branding and marketing more than on-ice results.

Hiring an alleged rapist is absolutely f***ing ATROCIOUS for branding and marketing. It's a literal nightmare. You can only hope a team in a market that doesn't know anything about hockey gets him, so he can duck and cover and play without the scrutiny.

Bill Cosby is now deemed "innocent" in accordance with a court of law. He is out of jail.
Try casting him in a movie and seeing how well the movie does.

You can scream all you want about comedic chops, or his acting ability, the problem is Bill Cosby is going to tank your movie no matter how good the movie might be.

This is false, he got off with a technicality......he admitted guilt, just another reason many women won't come forward, especially if the person is rich and powerful.

No..it means he is not worth the risk..... False accusations also are very rare despite what some males will tell you. The Oil are not in position to take chances on a guy who may end up in jail.....

I don't want the guy, and real cases are clearly far more common, but there are more than a few false charges. How about a famous local case. Stuff like this cuts the legs out from real victims, but there are more than a few crazy people out there and grifters who latch on to celebrity. Sad reality.

If Virtanen is guilty he's scum, if he's innocent then he's stupid. Either way I don't want him.

You posted a single case from 1997, you need way more data to prove you statement..if it is clear post proof? it happens but it is a very small portion of actual cases.

And nothing brings in money like winning. Sports will always be about competition, and that in and of itself is all about being a winner or loser.

I didn't mean you specifically for that. Just that I see a lot of the social justice being enforced across social media when celebs and athletes say something "bad", but those same people have no problem slandering the shit out of athletes for poor performance or leaving via FA and it's fine because they have their millions of dollars and can just log off.

I don't think there's much of an overlap there, most of the people who talk shit on social are dude bros or anonymous trolls who don't care about social justice issues at all.

I guess my point is social media is a cesspool, we know this and if a pro athlete feels they need to be active on there for the sake of their personal brand, that's a risk they are willingly taking on. The fact they are insanely wealthy and thus insulated from like 99% of real world problems makes it extra hard to sympathize.

... and sometimes nothing brings in money like revenue sharing.
And there's no revenue to go around if everyone sucks hot ass. At least not as much as there currently is. I just disagree that sports aren't about winning. Very much so.

I don't entirely disagree with you. But I think it's a really weak argument that they have lots of money so they're good. I've had this debate with a good friend of mine a few times, and to me it just shouldn't matter. It's just more of the "when it suits me" stance that I always say most people take.

Some teams sucking is good for business. Only particular teams winning is great for business when there is a big fat television contract in place and revenue sharing spreads the wealth.

Few things bug me.:
1) People (Cosby) are not found innocent. They are found not guilty. A finding of guilt has a very high threshold. Not guilty in no way shape or form makes a person "innocent". When lawyers (i.e. Cosby's) say their client was found innocent, it drives me batty
2) related to #1. There is no god given right to play professional hockey. Depending on the rules of any particular league, they do not necessarily have to wait until the very high threshold of "Guilty" is found in order to suspend him/make him ineligible to play.
