There are no reports of LTIR that I have seen however every Oiler's sports source has documented Neal's battle with COVID and his return to play. A google search will show this to be true. When he did return he was never the same.

The Oilers need to investigate this channel of "the long term effects of COVID-19 on James Neal and his ability to perform at the NHL level," if they are not already currently doing so.

They need to be discussing it with league authorities, multiple medical authorities and professionals who are in the know about the human immune system, virologists as well as lung and heart specialists.

If they fail to explore this avenue they place the team at a disadvantage and are ineffective at competing with the other NHL teams.

You should give Holland your number so he knows exactly what to do. I’m worried they will f*** it all up otherwise.

I'd consider giving him a cheap 1 year deal if there isn't enough evidence for a conviction at least yet. If our intel on the player says that he's a dirt bag then I wouldn't sign him at all.

Yeah, their whole take on this is odd. They are trying to equate this to something like acquiring a player and his cap hit in an in season trade. Toronto is not retaining anything, not giving anything up, just letting a player who is already leaving leave a few days early. Hyman leaving a few days early does not affect Toronto in any way at all.

It is as if they are calling Holland's bluff about them being equally OK with either a 7 or 8 year deal.
