Boeser is heavily carried by Petterson. He's okay but you don't want to pay a lot for him.

Boeser would be THE scoring winger for Davo. Probably too pricey though.

Cap hit of 5.875 x 2 years after this with his next RFA year commanding a 7.5M QO. His AAV is ok, its the QO that comes after it that hurts with the cap expected to sit at 81.5 for the next 5-6 years.

I think Boeser would be a great fit but we have no cap space

Boeser is incredibly overrated. He basically has the same career path as Eberle. Peaks early, inexplicably loses a bit of his shooting ability and becomes a inconsistent one dimensional soft forward. He's the worst Canucks forward in their top 6. If you watch Canucks games he's pretty useless when he doesn't score, and for some reason he's lost a lot of his scoring ability.

I actually think Boeser is just injury prone rather than regressing. He is constantly trying to get back to his baseline. I would still take a chance on him.

my offer would be Broberg and Chaisson for Boeser

I usually hate posting in thread twice in a row but I wanted to follow up my Boeser trade with my suggestions for Summer.

1) convince Puljujarvi to sign for one year with the promise if we move him by July 1, 2021. If he works out and wants to stay we add a top 6 forward, otherwise he is trade bait with an NHL season as his most recent body of work to set trade value. I would sign him to a 1 million one year deal with all one million being signing bonus. It would be a one year contract which will be one way.

2) sign Ethan Bear to a 2 year at 2 million dollar deal.

I doubt we'd have a realistic shot at Boeser, but the dude is legit McDavid's dream winger. Exact model of a guy I'd build to put on McDavid's wing. He's big, has decent speed, wins puck battles and is able to give good quick read passes to his driving line mates (see; Petterson). Then you add the shot and its a match made in heaven.

I think Boeser is a large part of what makes Petterson look so good; you can't just shadow him or leave him in the slot because Boeser is a real threat, and he is constantly making straight line plays supporting the puck and driving the net. We havn't had a guy with that skillset since Smyth, I guess you could argue Nealer brings it when he is really on his game, but he's starting to drop off and is inconsistent.

Only real thing not to like about Boeser is how he can get a bit lost below the red line, but for a kid his age that's pretty normal.

Us acquiring Boeser would likely look a lot like the Pens acquiring Nealer, actually. They are pretty similar players in my mind; just Boeser is still in his prime.

Boeser would look awesome next to McDavid. Nothing wrong with being a similar player to Eberle. Not every winger has to have a complete 2 way game.

Unlike Ebs, Boeser has the full range of shooting tools. He can take a 1-timer. Ebs likes the dust off wrister and it didn't take long for him to be figured out on McDavid's wing. You knew you could lean towards McDavid and still have time to cover Ebs if there was some space there because Ebs always held the puck the extra second before shooting if McDavid passed to him.

I'd really like to see Boeser with McDavid as well. Probably no chance of it though of course :)

He did try, I'll give him that. He knew he needed to add it to his game to be effective with McDavid and changed his stick and focused on it for a summer. Sadly, he completely ruined his wrister in the process, didn't successfully add the 1-timer, and had the worst goal scoring season of his career (up to that point).

Doesn't look like Green wants to be an Oiler next season .
Not gonna rag on him from opting out of these playoffs.

His shooting % has been going down every season. Not a great sign for a supposed sniper.

I really believe trying to add that one timer to his game wrecked him.

He was a mess trying to get those off and legitimately looked like a peewee player off his game.

I personally will never forget the amount of glorious tap in level chances he had while playing with McDavid +...

Even when not needing to one time he just completely lost his timing and accuracy.

Especially in hindsight that Eberle for Strome trade certainly should be looked at in a favorable light... Up until we traded Strome for Spooner anyways.
