I agree, I likely wouldn't trade him either, especially considering his value is probably low. Maybe try letting him ride shot gun with McDavid for awhile to see if he can get some of his confidence back.

I'd rather try to get Nuge's offensive game going, and rely on him less on the PK/D-zone. Especially if we're going to try to dump him after this season, he needs to put up some offensive production.

I still think a cheap, right shot winger might be in the cards. Stafford, Gionta, Purcell... Someone that can play a safe game, has a bit of finish and can play 14-17 minutes a night. These guys might be camp invites like Versteeg last season though. Although I think he's not ready, they're going to give JP an opportunity to earn his spot.
I am 100% down for a Franson signing though. With him on board we look half decent even without Sekera.

Ahhhh i def could see it. Theres ni reason to have any holes open going into the season if we can sign anither 1 year deal. If it does t work out you dump the player. If it works you dont have to worry about upgrading and overpaying at deadline
