"I do believe the #Oilers have been one of the teams that have contacted Travis Hamonic & his camp"

There is a lot of hoping when it comes to our forwards, grit, pk, pp and goaltending as well. With the addition of a couple of 'offensive' mostly forwards and an overall shaky defense and a mushy goaltending situation we cant afford Barrie on the second pairing. Hope Larsson's back holds up the entire season. As it stands now it looks as if were hoping we can outscore opponets. With Barrie in the top 4 .....not really possible.
Right now our 'D' is going to be run on hope!
HOPE that Nurse has less brainfarts.
HOPE that Bear improves and doesnt suffer sophomore jinx.
HOPE that Jones learns and learns and develops into top 4 or top 3.
HOPE that Larsson's back holds up entire season and playoffs?
HOPE that Russell can fill some extra minutes and carry Barrie defensively.
HOPE that Tippett can find a way to keep Barrie on the downside of the red line.
HOPE BOUCHARD can continue to develop a defensive presence and show it in the second half during his coffee.
Too much hope. We need a solid defensive vet to steady the ship. Get the right steady defensive guy and we might be a playoff team.
Yes if you cut Barrie loose he will score. But if you try to make him truly defensively responsible you get what Babcock had. Hopefully Tippett realizes the best for the team is somewhere in the middle. But this year i think we have a big dog house--and one of the players peeking out will be Barrie at times.

Unless they can get him for cheap and want to run 4 pairings deep in case of injuries. Like something likeSeems like a weird one unless Edmontons trying to drive up the price for Vancouver/Calgary. Hopefully this doesnt mean that the Bear contract is in poor shape.
Perhaps we will see Turris up playing LW 40 to 50 percent of the time and RNH playing third line center at times too. There is a lot of hoping when it comes to our forwards, grit, pk, pp and goaltending as well.
Defense isn't the only group.

Interesting ....ive never seen Barrie play his offside at evens before....can he do it well at all?.....can he really stay in his lane? He has a hard enough time positionally in the Dzone on the right side....????Nurse - Bear
Barrie - Larsson
Jones - Hamonic
Russell
Nurse - Bear
Barrie - Larsson

Have we done the same thing? Are we going to do it again re: Larsson's back. If your not pushing the rules are you competing hard enough? You didnt have a coach tell you to bend the rules as far as you can without breaking them?--i.e. butt ending to the stomach illegal but putting ur hand on the end of the knob in the corner and making room is not.Tampa the Yankees of hockey now? Playing the league and their cap like fiddle. 12M over the cap right now which would generally put them above the allowable 10% cushion but sounds like there’s a way to retroactively place players on LTIR so they aren’t technically over the cushion and they won’t have to worry about being compliant day 1 before putting someone on LTIR.
Can already tell how this plays out, they’ll waltz through the regular season comfortably in a playoff spot even without Kucherov, probably feed a Johnson, Killorn, Gourde some nice minutes to pump them up, and with a good half season and a year less left on their deal some GM will surely come along and help them out of their cap problem for free or maybe even give up an asset either in season or next off season.
They’re so transparent it’s laughable and they’re even being cheeky about it declaring Kucherov will be out for the regular season but I’d bet my bank account they kept a Kucherov surgery as their ace in the hole in case they couldn’t dump players and waited on the surgery to line up a recovery timeline perfectly with the end of the regular season. He’ll probably be ready a few weeks before end of the year, get a two week conditioning stint in the AHL and then rejoin the team for game 1 of the playoffs.
The league should step up right now and institute a rule that a player must play a minimum number of regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs. That would completely screw their little plan if Kucherov has to play something like 3 games or he’s not eligible for playoffs they wouldn’t have the cap space to activate him.
I don't mind having offence first defencemen playing on their offside. They need a defence first partner and an conscientious center. The benefits can outweigh the drawbacks. We got two of the best passing centers in the league always looking for that right handed shot.I'd play Hamonic on his offside if he could be signed. He's an effective player still. Him or Barrie on their offside is still likely a good pairing and better than what we have in Russell or Lagesson.
I feel like Bear has played some left side in the AHL.
A Bear-Barrie pairing would be pretty good and hilarious.

Expect a lot of "Tyson Bear" and "Ethan Barrie" calls this season.Bear, to Barrie, back to Bear. Bear buries it from Barrie! Yikes... Good luck Quinn lol
Kevin Quinn's worst nightmare scenario:
Call up Savoie and Lavoie
Play Bear with Barrie.
Call up Patrick Russell and start Kris.
