Well....so much for Zucker. He would have been a nice fit.

I wonder what it would take to get Hoffman out of Florida. I know he is a UFA after this season but he would look pretty good on Connors wing IMO.

Would Pulju, Samorukov and 2nd be too much for Tatar? He seems like the best fit for McDavid to me if he's available.

Tatar. no. we need playoff bodies not prissy players that have consistently checked out of the playoffs.

You would never have gotten Zucker anyways. Due to custody issues his wife has, he would never come to Canada to play.

Btw regarding "playoff preformers", there's a looooot of luck involved, especially when the sample size for most players is small. Players on low seed playoff teams rarely have a chance to consistently put up point per game every year if they keep getting bounced in the first round.

Look at a guy like Charlie Coyle, who year after year would get bounced in the 1st or sometimes 2nd round on a pretty mediocre Minnesota team. And yet he was a major contributor to the Bruins playoff run last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Zucker could find that same success in Pittsburg and shake his reputation of "disappearing in the playoffs".

I think Oilers fans should know not to discredit players based on playoff numbers, considering RNH went 13-0-4-4. Also consider how Eberle went point per game last year. Hell even McDavid didn't get to beast mode in the playoffs, a pedestrian 9 points in 13 games.... So Tatar had a few bad playoff runs, who cares? He was on a mediocre DRW team. He also couldn't find a groove on a VGK team who were basically plowing through everyone. Big f***ing deal. That's not reason to label him as someone who will never have playoff success in this league.

I like Dadanov more. Smarter player.

I also wonder what the situation with Brian Boyle is. Undisclosed injury... Would fit well as a 3rd line pivot, pushing the Sheahan line down. He's had some wild playoff runs.

I wanted Hoffman a few years back when he was still at Ottawa and was lightly rumored to be in the mix here before getting dealt to SJ>FLA. He has a great shot and would serve up some great 1Ts on the PP. Also still has decent skating. I'd be really interested in a rental if we don't have to give up too much and if we were reasonably certain we could re-sign

It is known that his wife has a child from a previous relationship and theres shared custody. The Pens board is discussing on their trade thread.

I am just saying that rumors arent fact. Lots of things get discussed that arent accurate.
I need a little more to be convinced.

Not that it matters at this point anyway...Zucker is now a Pen.

I'm not trading Samorukov unless it's a true star player coming back. This dude has top pairing upside, think Alex Edler. Players need time to develop, Bear is the obvious example. Samorukov is on a team with Bouchard, Persson, and even Day who all have the pedigree or experience to get offensive usage over him. He's a guy who had big hype because of his elite play in the WJC and the OHL playoffs. I think it's crazy people want good but not great scoring wingers like Zucker and Tatar for blue chip prospects. Tatar flamed out in Vegas not that long ago, we'd be buying high big time.

Dadanov is an interesting player. Whats his contract situation?

I agree.
I have no idea how to gauge his value though...or for that matter what the Panthers needs are.

He'd obviously be a great fit here with his skillset complimenting McDavid really well. You'd think a guy like Puljujarvi might be really interesting to Florida if he's being moved as a rental.

It would probably have to be Puljujarvi+.
I dont know what the plus would be...the Oilers dont have their 3rd round pick this year.

It was on discussed on HNIC or something to that effect several months ago. I don’t believe it to be a rumor in any case.
