Bieksa is excellent. Friedman is amongst the most connected guys in the league. Maybe the most. Botterill is fine, if a little too deferential. I don’t honestly care much for Hrudey. He’s alright but generally doesn’t add much, IMO. I wish Ray Ferraro was on that panel with Bieksa. That’d be excellent viewing! Ron McLean can get lost. I never have and never will forgive him for backstabbing Cherry and puking up the PC nonsense the CBC Politburo dictated. He contributes as much as a wet towel.
Ferrero is fantastic.

Friedman is a hockey giant. He has to stay... Ron has detractors but he's a legend.. Kelly is part of the furniture as a player from the 80's and 90's.

There is going to be a female on the panel so unless you get Cheryl Pounder, I'm not sure who beats her out yet. I thought Bieksa had something of a turning point once he saw a real pro come in and tear them all to shreds. Derek Lalonde made Bieksa look like a rank amateur, There was less of the stand up comedy act that marked his career to this point and maybe he kicks on and becomes one of the best in the business.

Replace Rotten Ronnie with Caroline Cameron. Ron is far from a legend and has been far more of a disgrace to his country than Cherry ever was; he is simply incapable of acting like a professional and provides absolutely nothing of value on or off the air.

I didn't call Don a disgrace.. he had his charms.

Caroline is excellent.

His awards - he's been ok.

MacLean has won eight Gemini Awards for his work with CBC. His first was in 1992 for Best Sports Broadcaster; he also won the Best Sports Broadcaster award in 1994, 1997, 1998 and 2001. He won Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program or Sportscast in 2004 and again in 2006. In 1996, he was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. In 2015, he was inducted into the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame. In 2016, MacLean, along with his Coach's Corner co-host Don Cherry, received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.

I am calling MacLean a disgrace. He has proven over time that he's not willing to act like a professional and should have been terminated for using the platform to slander Alex Burrows for exposing a corrupt ref.

What a piece of shit Berger is for starting a rumor like this. Even if it were true, the amount of stress he put on his peers should pretty much blackball him.

Keep Amber and Bieksa, I like Jen and even Kelly. I always liked Strombolopoulas and didn’t understand the problem with him. get rid of all the gambling ads so they can have longer to discuss the game (and not the Leafs even if they’re not playing)

Botterill is awful.

Loved Bieksa as a rookie, as a player, as a commentator. he is what the sport is missing. his delivery and jabs are the way kids these days communicate. Botterill just knows her stuff is prepared and is someone accepted by hockey fans in general, a shining example for women broadcasters. Her harvard degree with honors helps in the corporation I suppose. Friedman is a dweeb yes, but well connected, his views coming from both agents, front offices and GM is hard to replace. these three are pretty core for that broadcast. the rest, I care little about. Maclean I actually dont hate, my grandad waxes poetic about him whenever he tells his stories, that is a big part of the cable watching demographic so he does have value.

Botterill sucks.

Oh lord.. anthony stewart sucks

Hes there to fill a quota.

I got my hopes up for nothing. Here comes another terrible year with the same group during intermissions

I'll be shocked if Ron is gone. Berger is really taking some broad jumps at possibilities based on one qualified sentence from his source. Feels more like click bait then inside info reading it. I can see tinkering with stuff, but they've tried moving off Ron before and the viewing public spoke. It would be the same thing again, 100%. HNIC demographics are not the same as those of us round here at the crazed hockey fan internet parts.
Final Score:

Squiffy 1
Berger 0

Sad thing is unless Rogers is outbid by Bell/TSN when the current TV deal is up, the viewers will be stuck with the same mediocre presentation.

Tho I think Bell will do whatever it takes to get the rights back when they are up for grabs. Lesson learned.

I've just officially closed a deal for HNIC. There will officially be two teams for the first and second intermission. The first team will be Don Cherry, Pierre Mcguire, Igor Larionov and Brian Burke. The second team will be a shorter segment known as "The View From Up Here" panel, featuring Zdeno Chara, Derian Hatcher, Jon Scott and Brian Boyle.

Clearly you dont like him but he is kind of a legend in broadcasting. And LOL at "a disgrace to his country".

I would like to see someone new in that role.

Tis a shame. The HNIC is a bunch of a mouth breathers. Nothing of value would have been lost if they would have all been replaced. Granted, the replacements would have been terrible also but it would have been new.

And everyone hates them because they just randomly fire people shortly after Bell lets talk day.
