According to Howard Berger, a source informed him that there will be big changes coming next season to Hockey Night in Canada and the only one to return will be insider Eillotte Friedman.

Along with MacLean, it appears that Kevin Bieksa, Kelly Hrudey and Jennifer Botterill's time with Hockey Night in Canada will be over as well, but that remains unconfirmed.

Friedman is the only one worth watching, Bieksa is ok but the rest of the panel..lets just say, for better or for worse, HNIC first intermission hasn't been a must watch TV for the past two decades since Cherry started talking about wars and politics in every segment.

Jennifer Botterill wasn't really there long enough for me to form an opinion, but I'd bring in someone like Cheryl Pounder if they are looking for a solid female perspective.

I hope she doesn't get moved from TSN, I like her intermission analyses on the regional Sens broadcasts and would like to keep it that way. One of the better hockey desk analysts, female or otherwise.

Why cut Bieksa? I thought he was good.

I like Bieksa in that he has a bit of a personality.

I won't miss his tendency to end every sentence with a rising inflection like he's asking a question?

I do know that he was a big hit with some of the ladies I know watching from home.

Kelly Hrudey and Ron MacLean are class acts but maybe it's just their time.

When you think the HNiC panel couldn't get any worse...

By no means was the current panel anything great, and certainly not like in HNiC's heyday, but keeping Friedman (who has become a huge dweeb) is pointless. Bieksa was a breath of fresh air on the panel and they are getting rid of him?

David Amber is good, but he's going to bring nothing different to the panel. I've always like MacLean, and it'll be sad to see him go if true. An end of an era.

Bieksa is great at his job. Love his witty personality and insight from a former players perspective. There is no way he should go. I find his point of view refreshing.

Ron MacLean should of been canned a long time a go. He's always been an afterthought with me. Bland and boring. Should of been sent packing right after the Grapes incident.

I liked Friedman better before he was on TV.

Now I find he caters a lot more to his largest audience.

Sad news for this old timer, man i miss those baby blue sports jackets. Well its been dying a death by a million paper cuts since sportnets got the hockey rights up north.

TSN has been better for a long time.

Every time Sportsnet/CBC tries to get more fresh and cool, it just gets more and more cringe. I prefer TSN's self-deprecating humour. Yeah, sometimes they are lame, but they know it and acknowledge it.

Ottawa's regional coverage has been absolutely fantastic since TSN has taken over: Cuthbert, Ferraro, Noodles, Miller, Poulin, Pounder, Johnson.

If only we could get Ian Mendes instead of Bruce Garrioch.

Agreed. Rogers is a complete clown show.
