If his hands are tied regarding these coaches it could legitimately be outside of his jurisdiction within this current organization. Patrick Roy couldn't even bring his own goaltender coach which seems super weird.

All I'm saying is that I'd like to see the dude with his own staff in a season where the whole team doesn't immediately get injured before we fire the dude. He's still only at 79 games
Why do your posts always seem to make more sense than most?

And all I want is a coaching staff that's not on pace to have the historically worst combined PK and PP in one season, lol. Seems you want to break the wrong kind of records.

I generally like Roy. The Ramparts were always well run, but they were also the richest team in the Q. He can lose his shit, I witnessed it firsthand at a playoff game with the Mooseheads where we (the crowd) were able to get under his skin and he took an unsportsmanlike penalty, but his passion is also undeniable.

It's taking time for the team to evolve to his culture, some likely won't make it and he'll figure out which ones and hopefully the GM will delete them and replace them with the players he wants.

I'm curious to see how they go the rest of the way and what happens. They've been in most of their games this year, it's not like they're getting constantly destroyed. Even an average special teams and they probably are in a playoff spot.

To me, this is the major failing this year (aside from the early injuries) - figuring out the PP and PK. Here's where I will fault Lou for (as far as I can tell) not letting Roy freely pick his own assistant coaches and I fault Roy for not figuring it out anyway.

All that said, I'm still optimistic regarding Roy and hope that as they've gotten healthy they might be able to get on a little run and make some noise.

That’s the thing people don’t realize that the roster is only 1/2 of the equation. How a coach utilizes that roster can change the outlook for a team drastically. So when people bring up how this team did in the playoffs under Trotz/Lambert and assume the same results will happen after a full year under Roy I think that's making a wrong assumption.

Can anyone here argue at least based upon these last handful of games where the players themselves admit they have grown in confidence and that they are now as Lee put it playing hockey "the right way" that they are not playing like a different team 5 on 5? And if so how can you assume the results would not be any different if they were to just make the playoffs?

I've said it many times over the past 6 years the Trotz/Lambert system more often than not will not work against skilled teams. It's a pusher mentality to play not to lose, win by only 1 goal, and protect 1 goal leads. That is what Trotz preached and that is what Lambert called the right way to play hockey. It is not. That idea of collapsing around your goaltender to build an impenetrable wall is what led up exactly to the panic this team has been experiencing in late game collapses when confidence in that wall falls apart and the other teams in the league figure out how to beat a pusher. The system started off well enough until all the other teams in the NHL figured out Trotz/Lambert's gameplan and our goaltenders ended up getting assaulted and our players losing all confidence in their defensive abilities.

While I understand wanting Roy to achieve perfection by fixing everything including our special teams- which is not his primary role by the way, but to be able just fix that fear of losing mentality was a big step in the right direction. The Trotz/Lambert system of hockey had to be completely dismantled and rebuilt. Roy is on his way to accomplishing that. Special teams will follow. My thoughts are be patient. Just make the playoffs. See what happens after that.
