Well, we'll need a skilled undersized center when Frost flops. :sarcasm:

What is the Champions Hockey League?

Tbh he is a LW now. Not really played C since first little SHL stint.

It is the best teams in Europe (apart from KHL...) playing vs each other. Kind of like Champions League in soccer... but teams treat it more like the League Cup aha. Still a very good level.

What is the Champions Hockey League?

Attempt to imitate the soccer Champions league, taking the best teams from across Europe to compete against each other in a bracketed tournament.

I have wanted a UCL alternative in hockey for years, but I have to admit the product on the ice did not meet my expectations since it materialized.

edit - too late, and Appleyard rightly added "no KHL"

If it had KHL I think it would instantly be an awesome league.

Right now sadly half the teams (ones who are not as deep from SHL, Liiga and NLA main ones guilty) dont play their full teams and give young players shots etc.

Add KHL and would be very cool. I guess all teams would treat it as more important than their domestic league then.

I think so as well, I feel like the teams find less prestige in competing against the best on the continent than I expected. Adding a strong league like that would help - but I guess KHL has no essential reason to join. Maybe a few big name players could help (like David Krejčí and other coming back home)? Because there is no "tradition" to build on - and strong names (player or league-wise) are the only way to improve that in my mind

I digress, but Slavia is unfortunately f*ed, relegated to tier 2 Chance liga a few years ago  BUT! Sparta Prague (Vladimír Sobotka, David Kaše, Filip Chlapík, Roman Horák, Alexander Salák - but even these names are quite niche for casual fan) could be fun, playing in O2 arena, >15.000 people would show up for that I believe.

Any Czech team against a Russian one would do though

Aha, yeh... I changed it probably just after you quoted.

Always think of Slavia first. Probably as when I first started watching Czech Hockey they were the dominant force.

Yeah I didnt mean to sound like the "actually, wrong" kind of guy  I am just in the same boat, I loved the Beránek/Červenka/Sup/Málek/Bednář/Duda (Pálffy+Stümpel, Jaroslav Špaček in 2005!) times of Slavia, and you reminded me how I miss those times haha

What's Lycksell measure these days, I have him at 5'11 185, which is decent for a fast offensive winger.

Is he under contract for next season? If he keeps this up, Lycksell would look like a lock to come over to NA.
