It's clearly coaching. FLA is running a neutral zone trap/clog. The pass back is trying to push back the front guy in between the blue lines.

It works in the regular season because you get a penalty when the Dman interferes the forechecker. There's not calling that now. So the front forward doesn't need to push back, the drop back is useless.
