GDT: Round 2 Game 2

What a game.

When I'm watching in replay unfortunately I can see the overall time of the video so I can predict if the game will finish in 3 periods or will go to OT. I knew this one will be over after the 3rd. So because of this I was happy when I saw AA trapped for 2 minutes in the D-zone it meant that the other will rest a little bit. But even with a shift like this he didn't reach the 10 minute mark.
I'm afraid he'll play even less on the road.

PS : The L in game 1 sucks even more now. It could have been a 2-0 series lead.

I have, as recently as mid season this year. still doesn't feel the same as it did during the young guns era when we started to sell out. The arena as a whole just isn't as amped as it used to be and it's noticeably different. You can hear it when you're there and you can really hear the difference on TV between us and other arenas. I'm not saying some of the old crowd isn't still there, I'm just saying the crowd as a whole ain't got it no more. Coming in to rowdy Rock the red capital one used to be a thing for other teams, now nobody talks about it.
For some of us, its the same crowd. We just got old(er)

Vegas fans are regretting they traded LT to us, because Adin Hill is playing inconsistent for them right now.

Well Edmonton is a machine right now and I would not at all be surprised to see McDavid hoisting the 2025 Cup when this is all over. They've dominated 3rd periods and OT like they want it! But, that said, Vegas fans can... suckit!

Game 1 made us realize we needed to step our game up. You cannot 'practice' the type of pressure that Carolina brings. You just have to raise your effort/work level to compensate.

Is it just me or does the coffee smell richer, the air feels crisper, the sun feels brighter, the work feels less workier on this day?

Or as much as it can on a dark cloudy and rainy day lol.
I was still drunk on the way into the office this morning I think but yeah, definitely not as brutal as it could have been if we lost. lol

LiquidIV and a bagel and I'm ready for round 2 tonight! 🤣
I believe we are the same person, sir.

I have perfected the hangover cure, so don’t say I never gave you guys anything. Ready? 24 of water with LiquidIV, 20 ounces of water with Metamucil and chia seeds, 12 oz Red Bull (sugar free), and a bagel sandwich. Rehydrates you, clears all the shit out of you (literally), gets some protein and fat back in there for brain activity.

Another hangover cure? Smoke the devils lettuce instead of drinking. :naughty::nod:

Carberry's biggest question mark after game 2 has to be what to do about the 3rd line. Raddysh did not provide much of a spark. I would go Leonard for game 3 and honestly consider going Frank for game 4 if the play doesn't improve. Frank's speed might be a threat against Carolina's press, and it cannot hurt their possession game (worse to worser?). Mango by himself has been quite solid (he made a key hit that helped spring McMichael's breakaway), but the entire line has been completely swamped in the 2nd round.

FWIW, I also thought Protas was awful last night, and the fancy stats agree. I'm not worried about him long-term, though, and he's been a big* asset on the PK.

*pun intended

Chychrun continues to prove me wrong, and I'm very happy to be wrong. He & Carlson had a massive bounceback game 2 defensively.

bacchist and kicksavedave, why are you angry at me? Leonard will be good for us, but he needs to learn the NHL level game more and put some weight(muscle) on in the offseason.
I'm not angry at you. I was getting pissed at Melkor.

But regarding the substance of what you said here.

Leonard does need to learn the NHL level game more and bulk up a bit...

AND

Leonard is currently one of our 8 best wingers. He should be in the lineup. Sure, he will improve a lot, but he's good now and he should be playing.

Love Ovechkin, he’s an absolute legend and has been a rock for Washington his whole career and all that.

That being said, between this season and in this playoffs so far I think this is already viewed as Tom Wilson’s team. It just really feels that way.
Ovechkin has said so himself.

"Yes, it is Tom Wilson's team. Yes, it is his team. Future captain."

I'm not angry at you. I'm pissed off that Leno isn't the savior we need right now. But I tend to always give an Olli Jokenen reaction to any self promotion on here :D

Ovi was quoted last night, regarding Willy:

“Obviously, he set the tone,” Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin said. “He’s our leader. He plays smart. He plays physical. He scored a big goal. And in the playoffs, you have to play like that.”

This is easily the most Millennial post ever. Keep all that crap far far away from my GenX self. Everyone knows that the best hangover cure is a glass of water, 2 ibuprophen, and a shot of bourbon. You're welcome.

Ovi was quoted last night, regarding Willy:
Ovie knows the score. He's 39 years old playing a kids' game. He's got a year left max and then he's done. And he's good with it. He's got nothing left to prove and should only play if he wants to. And he won't want to if he can't get it done at the level he demands of himself, so I'm not worried about him overstaying his abilities.

I never said he was the savior. He's been about what I expected. But the goals and assists haven't caught up to where his underlying stats would suggest. I don't blame him for that, though. I think it's a combination of his linemates and how Carbs has been deploying them. When he enters the zone and retains possession for a few seconds and nobody else on the team is anywhere near the zone, I think that's an indication that his talents are being under-utilized. I don't know what to do about it, though.
