Too many casual elites there now because the rowdy middle class people have been priced out. I was at the first home game after 895 against Carolina. Not only was there a ceremony for ovi but it was the bloodbath rematch against Carolina and it felt like a pre season game in there.

Come sit in the 400's with us po' folks. Energy is a lot better there.

Love Ovechkin, he’s an absolute legend and has been a rock for Washington his whole career and all that.

That being said, between this season and in this playoffs so far I think this is already viewed as Tom Wilson’s team. It just really feels that way.

At 39, he may not be able to carry the team on his back, but he's still their emotional leader. Ovi will make his mark on this series just like he did with Montreal.

you're placing way too much emphasis on how much a coach can control within a game.

He completely controls the strategy. Collapsing through the neutral zone on D is a choice. The tactic can work if you're keeping them out of the middle and challenging along the walls, but that's us choosing to play THEIR game. That's what they're good at.

When guys get on their heels they make mistakes. In hockey that's penalties and chances against, the two things you're trying not to do most when up 2 with time running out.

Screwing up while counterpunching? Chych did that and TvR bailed him out. We haven't been giving up rushes against, haven't been allowing quality chances. Keep doing that. There's no failsafe for f***ing up in your own end -- every mistake is potentially a chance against or a penalty.

They pour it on the whole game, 24/7. Dialing it up beyond that when behind late means taking risks. All the more reason to challenge between the blues and counter, cuz they're going to get caught out. But no, we're laying back and just letting them come, giving up more and better chances, and it cost us a goal in both games.

"We're winning! Let's stop doing what's working!" ;)

seemed like the energy was crazy against MTL though no? I think it has more to do with the product on ice so far this series.

Although I didn’t catch all of tonight’s game so I’m speaking more to game 1

I feel like Ovi even said something about this recently.

Just an aside — I’ve never seen a caps team this good at defending/breaking up odd man rushes, it’s uncanny.

Granted they have had plenty of practice, but still…

He did lay a couple of hits right as they started to pick it up in the second period.

I have, as recently as mid season this year. still doesn't feel the same as it did during the young guns era when we started to sell out. The arena as a whole just isn't as amped as it used to be and it's noticeably different. You can hear it when you're there and you can really hear the difference on TV between us and other arenas. I'm not saying some of the old crowd isn't still there, I'm just saying the crowd as a whole ain't got it no more. Coming in to rowdy Rock the red capital one used to be a thing for other teams, now nobody talks about it.

Was that icing?? NO luckily they figured it out in less than a minute and cut back to the game.

Willy is a boss. Loved the AHole headlock. The Canes are scared of him. I would love to be a fly on the wall with Willy talking to Stahl after the game when lil Stanky was having his meltdown. Is he always like this?

Two things:

1. Stop being a dick. I’m already having to delete posts and it’s not even puck drop yet. If you’re wondering if this is directed at you, the answer is yes.

2. I made the GDT and I can’t watch most if not all of the game due to work and then my own game. Win or lose, I get the credit or it’s all my fault.
